The record below refers to him as both "Hyram H. Impson" and "Harmon H. Impson". This suggests that his full name was "Hyram Harmon Impson". ================================================================================== ================================================================================== The State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that I, John Taylor, Parish Judge and Ex Officio Notary Public commissioned and acting as aforesaid for the Parish and State aforesaid have this day at the town of Farmerville proceeded to take an Inventory of the property of the Estate of Hyram H. Impson, Deceased and for that purpose have proceeded to appoint, sworn according to law, Thomas Impson and William C. Carr and proceeded as follows: 12 Head of cattle apprd. @ $5 per head $60.00 12 Head of hogs apprd. @ $1 per head 12.00 1 Gray Horse apprd. @ 50.00 1 tract of land 80 acres more or less 100.00 1 Rifle gun apprd. @ 10.00 Farming tool and potware and clock 10.00 Debt against Mary Powell 3.00 3 Head of horses apprd @ ___12.00 $257.00 This amount of two hundred and fifty seven dollars of the Estate of said deceased as inventoried by us. In testimony, whereof said parties appraisers have signed these presents together with the undersigned witnesses and me Judge on this 10th day of December AD 1842. W. M. Lawrence Wm. C. John Taylor, Judge To the Honorable Judge of the Court of Probates in and for the Parish of Union in the State of Louisiana. The petition of Thomas VanHook, a resident of your said Parish and State with respect represents unto your Honor that Hyram H. Impson, late a resident of your said Parish and State died intestate at his residence in your said Parish on or about 11th day of January AD 1842 leaving a considerable Estate of real and personal property and your petitioner is unprepared to say whether he left any lawful heirs or not. Petitioner avers that said Impson deceased is considerably indebted to him and others and as yet there has been no one appointed to administer his Estate and pay the debts &c, &c, &c. Wherefore your petitioner prays your Honor to cause an Inventory and appraisement to be made of all the property belonging to said Estate if it has not already been done and that you appoint him Administrator of the said Estate according to law and for all such orders and decrees in the premises as the nature of the case may require and as in duty bound &c. McGuire & Ray, Atty. Let the prayer of the above petitioner be granted and it is further ordered that Thomas VanHook be appointed Administrator of the Estate of Harman H. Impson, Dec. and that letters issue. Done and signed in chambers this 30th day of September AD 1842. John Taylor Judge of Probates State of Louisiana Parish of Union I, Thomas VanHook, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all and singular the duties incumbent on me as the Administrator of the Estate of Harmon H. John Taylor Parish Judge To the Honorable Judge of the Probate Court in and for the Parish of Union in the State of Louisiana. The petition of Melinda Mason, Admistratrix of James W. Mason, deceased and William F. Mason, Attorney in fact of Walter R. Mason who is executor of Josiah Mason, Decd. The said J. W. Mason and Josiah Mason formerly being commercial partners and doing business under the name of J. J. W. Mason in the Parish of Ouachita with respect represents unto your Honor that the Estate of Harmon H. Impson which is now opened in your said Parish and State is legally and justly indebted unto said firm of J. J. W. Mason in the sum of about two hundred dollars besides interest and cost being the amount of a judgment confessed by said Impson in favor of your petitioner in the Parish Court of your said Parish during his lifetime. Petitioner avers that they have made application to Thomas VanHook the Administrator of said Estate for payment of this claim and he answers that he has no funds to pay the debts of said Estate. Wherefore your petitioner prays your Honor to cause the said Estate and all the property composing the same to be sold according to law to pay your petitioner’s debts and the other debts owing by said Estate according to law and that your Honor notify the said administrators hereof and for all such orders and decrees as ay be necessary and proper in the premises &c. McGuire & Ray, Atty. I, Thomas VanHook, Administrator of the Estate of Harman H. Impson, Decd. hereby acknowledge service of the above petition and join in the prayer for a sale of the property of the Estate to pay the debts of said Estate as there is no other means to pay the debts. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Let the prayer of the within petition be granted and it is further ordered that all the property composing the Estate of Harman H. Impson, decd. be sold to pay the debts of said Estate according to law. Done and signed this 14th day of June AD 1843.
