M. Smith, Parish Recorder in and for the same Parish that I make or cause to be made an Inventory of the property belonging to the Estate of Thomas Ivey, Decd., late of said Parish and I have on this the 20th of August appointed John E. Ivey and Miller Edwards as appraisers to make said Inventory and witnesses all residents of the said parish of Union & after they’re being duly qualified by me the said Recorder, they proceeded to make the following inventory. 1 Sorrel mare, Tab $75.00 1 Claybank horse 60.00 1 Bay mare 50.00 1 Sorrel horse 55.00 12 Head of cattle more or less 84.00 31 head of hogs more or less 75.00 1 Wagon 40.00 1 Yoke oxen 40.00 2 beds & furniture 35.00 1 Clock 10.00 12 Chairs 9.00 4 Tables & 1 Slab 10.00 2 Doz. Ivey To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The Petition of William Ivey, duly appointed by your Honorable Court administrator of the Estate of Thomas Ivey, resident of said parish with respect represents unto your Honor that on entering into the affairs of the said Estate he finds the same [unreadable]. He further finds that it consists principally of his stock and other personal property subject to loss & waste. He therefore prays your honor that the said personal property may be ordered to be sold according to the articles of the code of Practice 990, 992 and that he may be authorized to make the said sale and for all such other orders & decrees in the premises as may be found necessary. H. Regenburg, Atty. The Estate of Thomas Ivey Petition for Sale By reason of the law & the evidence in this case being in favor and the publication having been made according to law. It therefore ordered & decreed by the court that they pray of the petition be granted and that the said William Ivey, Administrator of said Succession be ordered and authorized to sell all the property of every kind belonging to said Estate according to the articles of the code of practice No. 991 & 992 authorized by them to pay the just debts of said Estate. Done & signed in open court on this the 10th day of November AD 1849. Geo. W. Copley Judge of the 12th District To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court for Union Parish, La. The Petition of Nancy Ivey, widow of Thos. Ivey, decd. late of your said parish with respect shows unto your honor that the said Thomas Ivey departed this life on the 27th day of May last leaving a considerable estate of personal property, rights & credits all within your said Parish. Petitioner further says that there are debts and claims against the said succession unsettled and outstanding. Petitioner therefore prays your Honor to cause an inventory thereof to be made according to law and that William Ivey, son of the deceased and your petitioner may after due and legal proceedings be appointed admr. of the said succession and for all other orders within the premises that the nature of the case will require and for general relief &c. Henry Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana Parish of Union 12th Dist. Court Let the prayer of the petition be granted and it is ordered that an inventory & appraisement to be made of all the property to be found in the estate & succession of the said Thomas Ivey, decd. and it is further ordered that Claiborne M. Smith, the Parish Recorder make said Inventory and cause an appraisement thereof to be made by two persons qualified to act as appraisers & make due return thereof according to law. Done and signed in office on this the 8th day of June AD 1849. Tho. VanHook, Clk. Estate of Succession of Thomas Ivey, Decd. State of Louisiana Parish of Union 12th District Court William E. Ivey having been recommended by Nancy Ivey, wife of said decedant as administrator of said estate and said application having been advertised & no opposition having been made. It is ordered that William E. Ivey be appointed Administrator of the estate of said Thos. Ivey, he having given bond and taken the oath presented by law at the time of the renditions at this year. Done & signed on this the 4th day of Sept. AD 1849. Tho. VanHook, Clk. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presence that we William Ivey & John B. Hollis securities are held and firmly bound unto George W. Copley, Judge of the District Court of 12th Judicial Court in and for the said State for the time being in the sum of eight hundred dollars to the true & faithful payment thereof, we bind ourselves, our heirs & our assigns firmly on this the 4th day of Sept. AD 1849. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the same William E. Ivey has been appointed administrator of the Estate of Thos. Ivey, decd. by the Clerk of the District Court in and for the said Parish. Now therefore if the said William E. Ivey shall discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him as administrator as aforesaid and shall remain a true & faithful account of his acts & doings in his said capacity in and about said estate to the said Judge or his successors in office or to the heirs or legal representatives of said Estate, then the above obligation is to be null and void or else to remain in full force & effect.
