The Petition of Eliza Foy, widow Kellam, resident of said Parish with respect showeth that Camilla Leander Kellam, a minor daughter of the late husband James Kellam by his previous marriage departed this life intestate in said Parish at the residence of her said father on the 7th of March 1847 leaving a considerable Estate consisting mostly in slaves and leaving as heirs her said father for one fourth thereof & a paternal brother James Warren Kellam, a minor son issue of the marriage between your petitioner & said James Kellam for three fourths & to whom your petitioner is natural Tutrix duly confirmed. She prays your Honor to cause an Inventory & appraisement to be made of the property composing said Estate & appoint her administratrix thereof to which she is entitled as Tutrix to her son since the death of the father, and that you make such further and decrees in the premises as may be necessary to afford general relief & as in duty bound &c. McGuire & Ray, Atty. State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Parish of Union Court, April ninth 1849 It is ordered that an Inventory & appraisement of Leander Kellam be made by Claiborn M. Smith, a Notary Public in & for said Parish & State & that he call upon two citizens to act as appraisers thereof and administer to them an oath in [unreadable] according to Law and made return thereof to this office. It is further ordered that Eliza Foy be appointed administratrix thereof upon giving bond & security according to law & taking the legal oath. Done & signed at my office on this the 9th day of April 1847. Thos. VanHook, Clk. 12th Judicial District Court Union Parish, Louisiana There as Eliza Foy has been appointed and confirmed administratrix of the Estate of Camilla Leanda Kellam, deceased by the said court, and taken the oath and given good & security according to law. Now therefore she is hereby fully authorized and empowered to do an perform all and singular the acts and duties appertaining or belonging to said appointment according to law. Given under my hand & the seal of the said court, at my office on this 24th day of April 1847. Thos. VanHook, Clk. Estate of Camilla Leander Kellam 12th District court Parish of Union, La. I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge & perform all & singular the duties incumbent on me as Administratrix of the estate of Camilla Leander Kellam, deceased according to the best of my abilities & understanding. Thomas VanHook Benson vs. Lee By reason of the & evidence in this case, it is ordered, adjudged & decreed by the court below be recovered & it is further ordered that the plaintiff W. H. Benson, do recover of the defendant J. A. Lee the sum of thirty dollars & 40 cts. The plaintiff W. H. Benson, pay the cost of the court and the defendant pay the cost of the Court below.
