The petition of Mary Williams, a resident of said Parish respectfully represents unto your honor that Wiley S. Lynn, late of said Parish departed this life on or about the 28th day of August last, leaving petitioner a widow in community and two lawful heirs the issue of the marriage between himself, petitioner and the said deceased to wit: James E. and Robert J. Lynn. Also an estate consisting of land, stock and other property rights and credits. She represents that she is the Natural Tutrix of said minors and of right entitled to administer said estates. She prays that an inventory and appraisement may be had according to law and that she be appointed Administratrix of said estate and natural Tutrix to her said children and Edward Williams, Under tutor and for such other orders and decrees as the case requires. State of Louisiana Parish of Union The premises considered, it is ordered and decreed that the within petition of Mary Williams be appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Wiley S. Lynn, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that W. C. Smith, Recorder & c be and he is hereby appointed and commanded to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to said estate and due return thereof make to this office without delay. Smith, Parish Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this 17th day of September AD One Thousand eight hundred and sixty two, I William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish and State duly commissioned and sworn, in pursuance of an order of the Honorable 11th Judicial District Court in and for said Parish directed, I repaired to the late residence of Wiley Lynn, Decd., late of the Parish of Union for the purpose of making an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property both real and personal of the said Wily Lynn, Decd. Whereas, William tubs and Fredrick M. McLelland, two lawful citizens of said Parish and State who being duly appointed and sworn by me the said Recorder as appraisers and in the presence of lawful and competent witnesses proceeded to make said inventory as follows viz: Tract of land known as the late residence of the deceased situated in the Parish of Union, numbered as follows viz: the west ½ of the south east quarter of south half of the south west quarter of section thirty one (31) township 22, range three west containing 160 acres more or less with the improvements thereon apprd. @ $2.00 per acre $320.00 35 head stock hogs more or less apprd. @ 72.00 20 bushels corn more or less apprd. @ 15.00 350 pounds fodder more or less apprd. @ 2.50 4 head cattle apprd. @ 40.00 1 sorrel horse apprd. @ 40.00 1 bay horse apprd. @ 80.00 7 bales cotton weighing 400 pounds each, say 280 pounds more or less subject to a privilege debt for the bailing and rope apprd. @ 224.00 2 axes @ $2.50, 2 hoes @ $1.50 apprd. @ 4.00 2 augers, 1 drawing knife, 1 hand saw apprd. @ 2.00 1 pair harness, 1 pair trace singletree and cleeves apprd. @ 3.00 10 bushels corn more or less apprd. @ 7.50 6 common chairs apprd. @ 4.50 1 pair fire dogs apprd. @ 2.50 2 ovens and lids, 1 pot and pot hook, 1 tea kettle and shovel 5.00 1 pair smoothing irons apprd. @ 1.00 1 spinning wheel apprd. @ 4.00 Government receipt for one gun valued @ __35.00 Total amount 865.00 1 man's saddle apprd. @ ___6.00 $871.00 Having completed the foregoing inventory and appraisement, I have on this the 17th day of September AD One thousand eight hundred and sixty two closed the same, in testimony whereof said appraisers have hereto signed their names with me the said Recorder and in the presence of Leroy F. Hundley and George W. Pearce, two lawful and competent citizens called for the purpose who have also signed their names this the day and date above written. September 17th 1862. ATTEST: W. Tubbs C. Smith, Parish Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Mary Lynn as principal and Edward Williams as her security are held and firmly bound unto W. B. Egan, Judge of the 11th District Court, Parish and State aforesaid, in the just and full sum of Eleven hundred dollars to the true and faithful payment of the same and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. September 25th 1862. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Mary Lynn has this day been appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Wiley Lynn, Decd. and she has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Mary Lynn shall faithfully administer said Estate and shall make a true and faithful account to the Judge of said Court annually of all his acts in and about said estate of all the property received from this or any other State and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money or any other property of whatever nature belonging to said estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then the above obligation to be null and void. Otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect against the principal and his said securities. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas, mary Lynn, has been duly and legally appointed Administratrix of the Estate of W. S. Now, therefore, the said Mary Lynn is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all acts appertaining to said appointment according to law.
