Bruton be advertised according to law and that Wm. C. Smith, Recorder of the Parish of union be and is hereby ordered and authorized to make an appraisement and inventory of the property of the Estate as therein prayed for and due return make to this office. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said parish directed authorizing me to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property, rights and credits pertaining to the Estate and Succession of Sarah C. Maroney, deceased, late of the Parish aforesaid. I did on this the fifth day of June AD 1869 repair to the late residence of said deceased and there being assisted by William Ingraham and L. D. Baker, citizens of the Parish of Union of lawful age who being duly appointed and sworn by me as appraisers and then and there make an inventory and appraisement of all the belonging to said Estate as presented by Wm. H. Maroney, the surviving husband. Separate Property First, tract of land situated in the Parish of Union known as the late residence of the deceased containing four hundred and forty acres more or less situated therein apprd. @ $2 per acre [blank] The growing crop on the above tract of land about sixty four acres in cotton and [NOTE: the next page is a continuation of the inventory, but it cannot be read due to the faded ink] State of Louisiana Parish Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that one George A. Bruton as principal and W. H. Maroney and R. P. Bruton as his securities are held and firmly bound [unreadable] Probate Court in and for Union Parish is for the time being or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of Three thousand ($3000.00) Dollars the true and full payment thereof we bind ourselves, our heirs, Executors, Administrators and legal representatives firmly and in solido by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. 21st day of August AD 1869. The condition of this obligation is such that whereas the said George A. Bruton has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the Estate of Sarah C. Maroney, deceased and he has taken the oath required by law. Now therefore, if the said George A. Bruton shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on him as Administrator of the said Estate and shall render to the Judge of said Court a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall when legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property belonging to the said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. Maroney State of Louisiana Parish Court Parish of Union Whereas George Bruton has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Under Tutor of the following named minor heirs of the Estate of C. Maroney, deceased to wit: Jesse Thompson Maroney and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said George Bruton is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to the said appointment according to law. The premises considered, it is ordered that George A. Bruton, Tutor and he is hereby authorized in accordance to the recommendation of a family meeting duly convoked to sell the real property of the Estate of Sarah C. Maroney, Decd. on terms of one half case and one half on a credit of 10 months. Bruton, Admr. after due and legal advertisement be and is hereby authorized to be the personal [NOTE: Top of page is too faded to read.] Maroney departed this life about the 20th June leaving a minor child Jesse Thompson Maroney the issue of the marriage of Deceased with petitioner. He represents that he is the Natural Tutor of said minor and prays that he may be recognized as such and that George Bruton be appointed Under Tutor to the said minor and for general relief. Jno. L. Barrett Atty. for Petr. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Premises considered, it is ordered, adjudged and decreed that Wm. H. Maroney be and is hereby appointed, confirmed and recognized as the Natural Tutor of his minor child Jessee Thompson Marony upon his taking the oath required by law and that George Bruton be and is hereby appointed Under Tutor to said minor child upon his taking the oath required by law. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the 12th day of November AD 1869 pursuant to the order issued from the Honorable Parish Court in and for Union Parish, Louisiana and to me John B. Robinson, Justice of the Peace duly commissioned and qualified authorizing me to convoke a family meeting composed of the following citizens of the Parish of Union viz. William D. M. Bruton, Lorenzo D. Baker, William Ingram, Peter R. Young and William C. Tucker relatives and friends of the minor heirs of Sarah C. Maroney, deceased for the purpose of giving their advice as to the issue or disposition to be made of the property belonging to the Estate of Sarah C. Maroney both personal and real. I caused to come before me at the late residence of the said Sarah C. Maroney, deceased in said Parish of Union the above men for [unreadable] who after first being duly sworn [unreadable]. I hereby acknowledge notice of the [unreadable] and [unreadable] the final account of Wm. H. Maroney, Administrator of the Estate of Sarah C. Marony, Deceased this November 29th 1869. W. H. Maroney Tutor & Administrator Pursuant to an order of the Parish Court of the parish of Union, State of Louisiana authorizing me as the Administrator of the Estate of Sarah C. Maroney, decd. the sale of the property of said Estate both real and personal at public auction to be the last and highest bidder after having advertised the same for more than thirty days by publishing in the Union Record, a newspaper published in the town of Farmerville and after having read in an audible voice the said advertisement and having also in a loud voice made known to those present the terms of sale proceeded at the premises on this 5th day of December AD 1869 between the said hours of sale to offer each and every article offered by the said property and after crying the same for a sufficient length of time the following persons became the purchasers, they being the last and highest bidders respectively of the following described property to wit: John B. The petition of George H. Bruton [unreadable] his said Administration said account shows a balance in his hands of seventeen hundred and nineteen and 72/100 dollars which petitioner is ready to pay over. It is alleged that the minors James M. and Jacob Bilberry represented by their legally appointed Tutor George D. M. and Jess T. Maroney are the sole heirs of said Estate and that the said heirs are entitled each to the one third part of the said Estate to Five hundred and seventy three and 69/100 dollars. Wherefore petitioner prays that his said final account be advertised according to law. That Wm. H. Maroney, Natural Tutor of the minor Jesse T. Maroney and also is Under Tutor of the minors James M. and Jacob G. Bilberry be duly notified thereof and after the legal delays the said account be approved and homologated and the bone of the Administrator be canceled for all orders and decrees in the premises and for general relief &c. In the matter of the Homologation of the [unreadable] Account of George A. Bruton, Admr. the said account having been duly advertised according to law and the heirs of the Estate having been [unreadable] and there having been no opposition filed to said account. It is hereby ordered, adjudged and decreed that the foregoing final account be and the same is hereby approved and homologated and that James M. and Jacob G. Bilberry and Jesse T. Maroney be recognized as the sole heirs of the Estate of their mother S. C. Maroney’s Estate and that the said [unreadable] the administrator be cancelled and paid.
