McAdams' wife was Penelope Dildy, the daughter of Benjamin Dildy. The record here spells it in a variety of ways (Perneliph, etc.). Robert F. McAdams enlisted in the "Stars of Equality", Company E, 19th Louisiana Infantry Regiment at Downsville on 20 February 1863. He was captured at the Battle of Chickamauga, in Georgia, on 20 September 1863. The petition of Mrs. Perneliph McAdams of this Parish, a resident of the Parish and State aforesaid respectfully represents that on or about the 14th day of November AD 1863 the husband of your petitioner Robert F. McAdams, departed this life leaving some property both real and personal in his own right, also minor children issue of this marriage with Pernelope Dilday, the Petitioner represents that the said minor children is the legal heirs of the said deceased and that no tutor has been appointed to represent them. Wherefore she prays that she be appointed and confirmed as Tutor of the said children and that W. C. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public be authorized to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the said minors according to law. That an Under Tutor be appointed and for all orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief &c. Ford, Brigham & Carr, Attys. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is hereby ordered and decreed that the prayer of the within Petitioner be granted and that Pernelipha McAdams be appointed and confirmed as Tutors of the minor children Benj. F and Susan McAdams. Benjamin Dilday be appointed Under tutor of said minors and that upon their taking the required oath and complying with the law in all respects that letters of tutorship and Under tutorship do issue to them. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this 13th day of November AD one thousand and eight hundr3ed and sixty six pursuant to an order of the Honorable 11th Judicial District Court in and for Union parish, La. and to me Wm. C. Smithy, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish directed authorizing me to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property, rights and credits belonging to the Estate of Robert F. McAdams, decd. late of Union parish and being assisted by Benjamin Dildy and Evan R. Dildy male citizens of the Parish and State aforesaid who being duly appointed and sworn by me as appraisers and in the presence of lawful witnesses proceeded to make said Inventory as herein after set fort. A tract of land situated in the Parish of Union numbered as follows: The NE ¼ of SW ¼ of Section 25 in Township 23 North of Range Two west also the SE ¼ of NW ¼ of same section and Township and Range less five acres sold to J. T. McAdams containing in the aggregate 75 acres more or less appd. To be worth two dollars and fifty cents per acres $187.50 Total amount of Inventory one hundred and eighty seven and 50/100 dollars. This done and signed in my office in the Town of Farmerville in the presence of the undersigned lawful and competent witnesses called for the purpose and me Recorder this the day and date above written. Reid, a resident of the Parish and State above written respectfully represents that he is Clerk of the District Court of the said Parish and Ex Officio Administrator of the Estate of Robert F. McAdams, Decd. late of said Parish and he herewith files his final account as administrator aforesaid. He represents that he is chargeable with inventoried value of said estate amounting to $187.00. That being the amount for which the property sold. He asks Credits for the following debts against said Estate paid by him Voucher 1 Amount Recorders Fees $7.00 Voucher 2 Amount Printers Fees 18.00 Voucher 3 Amount Clerk’s Fees 13.28 Voucher 4 Amount Comm. for Administrator ___4.78 $42.06 Total amount of Debits $187.50 Total amount of Credits ___42.06 Balance due $144.44 Leaving the sum of one hundred and forty four dollars and forty four cents in his hands belonging to the Estate. He further represents that Mrs. Penelope McAdams, the widow and Tutrix to the minor children of the Decd. has the said amount in her possession and he as Administrator has her receipt for the said which he files herewith for greater certainty. Wherefore he prays that this his final account be advertised according to Law and after all legal delays the same be allowed and homologated in all its parts and he be relieved from any further respeonsi8bility in the premises, also prays for general relief &c. McAdams, Decd. Jas. L. Guthrie, Deputy Clerk sworn says that said final account was filed December 21st 1866 and duly and legally advertised for more than thirty days prior to this date in the following manner to wit: By inserting an advertisement in the Union Record, a weekly newspaper published in the Town of Farmerville and Also by posting the copy of said advertisement on the door of the Court House in the Town of Farmerville, Louisiana and that no opposition has been filed to said account up to this date. F. McAdams State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on the 15th day of December AD 1866, in pursuance of the authority vested in me by law as administrator of the Estate of Robert F. McAdams, deceased. I, James W. Reid, did offer for sale to the last and highest bidder between the legal hours of sale after due and legal advertisement all of the property belonging to the said Estate, when the following named person became the purchasers, they being the last and highest bidders as follows: Mrs. Penelope McAdams bought 75 acres of land more or less described as follows to wit: the NE ¼ of SW ¼ of Section 25 Township 23 North of Range 2 West and the South East ¼ of N@ ¼ of same section, Township and range less five acres. Total amount, seventy five acres more or less at $187.80. Now therefore this being all the property belonging to the said Estate and the above named purchaser having complied with the terms of sale, I, James W. Reid, by virtue of the authority vested in me as above stated do by these presents sell, transfer and deliver unto the said purchaser by her respectively guaranteeing with her verbal all the rights in said Estate.
