McCullom, Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book E, pp. 350 - 353 ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The petition of Reubin Y. Langston a resident of your said Parish and of Susanna Langston, now widow McCullom, also of said residence respectfully represents unto your honor that William McCullom, late of said Parish and State departed this life on or about the 18th day of May inst. At his residence in said Parish leaving an estate consisting of stock, lands and other personal property, debts and credits, also leaving your petitioner Susanna Langston, his wife and two children, the legitimate issue of the marriage between the said deceased and said Susanna to wit: Mary McCullom and Martha M. McCullom and that she is at this time in a state of pregnancy. Petitioner prays that said Reubin Y. Langston may be appointed Administrator of the said estate and that she the said Susanna Langston may be appointed and confirmed Natural Tutrix to his said children Mary and Martha and also to the yet unborn infant. They pray that the necessary preliminaries may be had, that an inventory be had according to Law and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as shall be needful and proper. They pray that Lewis Feazle be appointed Under Tutor and for general relief. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana Parish of Union The above premises considered it is ordered that Susanna Langston, widow of William McCullom be approved Natural Tutrix to the minor children Mary and Martha M. McCullom and also to the as yet unborn infant, she being in a state of pregnancy. It is further ordered that the application of Reubin Y. Langston be advertised according to Law and that Wm. C. Smith make an inventory according to law. Done and signed in office this 30th day of May AD 1860. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 12 Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered that Lewis Feazle be and he is hereby appointed Under Tutor to the minors Mary and Martha M. McCullom, upon his taking the oath prescribed by law. May 30, 1860. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana Parish of Union The premises duly considered and by further reason that proper advertisement having been made and no opposition having been filed in my office, it is therefore ordered and decreed that Reubin Y. Langston be and he is appointed Administrator of the Estate of William McCullom, Decd. and upon his giving bond and good security and taking the oath prescribed by law that letter do issue to him. Done and signed in office on this the 9th day of June AD 1860. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Union I, Reubin Y. Langston do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on me as Administrator of the Estate of William McCullom, Decd. according to the best of my ability and understanding. So help me God. Reubin Y. Langston Sworn to and subscribed before me on this the 9th day of June AD 1860. Thos. C. Langston has been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of William McCullom, Decd., and he has given bond and good security and has taken the oath prescribed by Law. Now therefore the said Reubin Y. Langston is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do an perform all acts appertaining to said appointment according to Law. Given under my hand and the seal of office on this the 9th day of June AD 1860. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 12 District Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that Reubin Y. Langston as principle and Charles R. Lawrence and James C. Bagwell his securities are held and firmly bound unto R. W. Richardson, Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish, State of Louisiana or to his successors in office in the sum of twelve hundred and forty two and 86/100 dollars $1242.86/100 to the true and faithful payment thereof will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs and assigns in solid on this the 8th day of June AD 1860. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Reubin Y. Langston has been duly approved Administrator of the Estate of William McCullom, Decd. and hath given bond and taken the oath prescribed by Law. Now therefore if the said Reubin Y. Langston shall faithfully administer said estate and shall do and perform all the acts in and about said Estate and shall render a true and faithful account to the judge or his successors in office or to his legal heirs of said estate when requested so to do. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the eighth day of June AD one thousand eight hundred and sixty, in presence of an order of the Honorable 12th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish and State aforesaid and to me Wm. C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex-Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish directed, I repaired to the late residence of William M. McCullom, Decd. for the purpose of making an inventory and appraisement of all the property of said Estate of Wm. McCullom, Decd. Whereas William Jolly and J. C. Bagwell, residents of this Parish being duly sworn, appointed and sworn by me the said Recorder and in the presence of lawful and competent witnesses, we proceeded to make the following inventory and appraisement as follows to wit: Tract of land, the late residence of Decd., @ ½ NE ¼ E ½ of NW ¼ and NW ¼ of NW ¼ of section No. Thirty in Township No. 20 N of Range No. 1 West containing two hundred and two and 00/100 acres apprd. @ $700.00 21 head of hogs apprd. @$2 per head 42.00 5 head of cattle apprd. @ $5 per head 25.00 1 lot of machanics tools viz: 6 plains, 1 fot adj., 2 hand saws, augers, chisels, wagon boxes &c apprd. @ 22.00 1 horse, saddle and bridle apprd. @ 75.00 1 lot plough gen. & plough tools apprd. @ 3.00 1 double barrel shot gun and gun barrels apprd. @ 12.00 1 violin apprd. @ 5.00 1 brass clock apprd. @ 5.00 Household and kitchen furniture apprd. @ 30.00 1 pair saddle bags apprd. @ 4.00 1 spinning wheel apprd. @ 1.50 16 wagon hubs apprd. @ 8.00 Woodson Ross wagon apprd. @ 40.00 1 grind stone apprd. @ .50 2 wagon tongs and old gun apprd. @ 4.00 6 Bu[unreadable] apprd. @ 6.00 One note on H.
