The petition of Elizabeth McGough a resident [marked out] widow of William S. McGough, decd. late a resident of said Parish respectfully represents that her husband William S. McGough, departed this life on or about the 12th November 1864 intestate leaving an estate consisting of real and personal property, rights and credits. Also leaving petitioner a widow in community and six minor heirs to wit: Sophronia Elizabeth, Joseph R., Frances Jane, Nancy S., Sidney J. and an infant not yet named, the issue of their marriage. She represents that as Natural Tutrix to her said minor children, she is entitled to the Administration of said estate and prays that an inventory and appraisement may be had according to law. That after due and legal proceedings, she may be appointed and confirmed Natural Tutrix to her said minor children and Administratrix of the said estate and that [blank] be appointed Under Tutor, and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as the case may require. State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is ordered and decreed that the within application of Elizabeth McGough to be appointed Administratrix of the Estate of William S. McGough be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the said Estate of William S. McGough, Decd. and due return thereof make to this office. Done and signed in office, this 18th day of January AD 1865. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered and by reason of the proper advertisement having been made and no opposition having been filed thereto, it is ordered, adjudged and decreed that Elizabeth McGough be and she is hereby appointed and confirmed as Administratrix of the Estate of William S. McGough, Decd. and that upon her taking the oath prescribed by law and given bond with good security that letters do issue to her. Done and signed in office on this 6th day of April AD 1865. Thos. C. Doty and David Ward as her security are held and firmly bound unto the Honorable W. B. Egan, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish, Louisiana for the time being or to his successors in office and the just and full sum of Ten thousand five hundred dollars ($10,500) dollars t the true and faithful payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns, administrators and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, Louisiana on this the 6th day of April AD 1865. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Elizabeth McGough has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as administrator of the Estate of William S. McGough, Decd. and she has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore, if the said Elizabeth McGough shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on her as Administratrix of the said Estate and shall render to the Judge of said court a true and correct account of all her acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature in her hands belonging to the said estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same then and in that case this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principal and her said securities. The petition of Elizabeth McGough, a resident of your Parish and State and Administratrix of the Estate of W. S. McGough, Decd. respectfully represents that from the best information the Administratrix can gather, said Estate is considerably in debt and that it will be necessary for all the property belonging to said Estate to be sold in order to pay the debts of the Estate. Wherefore, petitioner prays your honor, that an order issue from your Honorable court authorizing your petitioner to sell after legal advertisement all the property real and personal belonging to said Estate according to the Articles of the Code of Practice in such case made and premises for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered and decreed that the prayer of the petitioner be granted and that all the property both real and personal belonging to the estate of W. S. McGough, Decd. be sold according to Articles 990 and 991 of the Code of Practice. It is further ordered that Mrs. Elizabeth McGough the Administratrix of the said Estate be and she is hereby authorized to make the said sale and due return thereof make according to law.
