The petition of Henry P. Anderson, a resident of said Parish with respect represents unto your Honor that Fielding Miller, late of said Parish of Union departed this life on or about the 25th day of July 1847 intestate. Petitioner represents that no relatives or heirs of the said decedent reside in the State of Louisiana and that the Estate of the said Fielding Miller, decd. is by operation of law, a vacant Estate. Petitioner further represents that said Fielding Miller, died seized of certain property of considerable value consisting of immovables & movables in the parish of Union. Wherefore your Petitioner prays the premises being considered that an Inventory & Appraisement of the property composing the said vacant Estate be made according to law & that your petitioner be appointed after due deliberation curator of the said vacant Estate. H. Bailey, Atty. Estate of Fielding Miller 12th District Court Parish of Union, La. It is ordered that an Inventory and Appraisement of the property composing the vacant Estate of Fielding Miller, decd. be made & it is further ordered that Claiborne M. Smith the Recorder be appointed to make said Inventory according to law. Done & signed in office on this the 38th day of July AD 1847. Tho. VanHook, Clerk State of Louisiana 12th District Court Parish of Union It is ordered that Henry R. Bryan be appointed to represent the absent heirs in said Estate as Attorney. Done & signed in open court on this the 7th Day of August 1847. Tho. VanHook, Clerk To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in & for the Parish of Union, La. The Petition of Henry P. Anderson, a resident of said Parish & State, a curator of the vacant estate of Fielding Miller, decd., late of said Parish with respect represents unto your Honor that an Inventory & appraisement of the property composing said estate having been duly made and no heirs presenting themselves to claim said estate your petitioner further represents that the property consist of merchandise & other movable effects, lands & tenements, that it will be of great advantage to said Estate to cause a sale of said property to be made after due & legal advertisements. Your petitioner prays that a sale of the effects composing said Estate be ordered by your honorable court. That the movable property for all sums over two dollars be sold on credits until the first day of January 1848. All sums under, ten dollars, cash. That the immovable items be ordered to be sold on a credit of one & two years, the purchaser or purchasers being required to give their notes with security approved by the curator. Baily & McGill, Attys. 12th District Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union Let the prayer of the petition be granted and it is ordered that all the movable property belonging to the Estate of Fielding Miller, Decd. be sold upon a credit until the 1st January 1848. On all sums over ten dollars & all sums under that amount, cash. Purchasers to give notes & good security and that the immovable property be sold on a credit to one & two years, purchasers to give notes with approved security with mortgage on the immovable property and it is further ordered that Avery Breed, Sheriff of said Parish make sale according to law. Done & signed in office on this the 28th day of August AD 1847. Tho. VanHook, Clk. Estate of Fielding Miller 12th District Court I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all & singular the duties incumbent on me as Curator of the Estate of Fielding Miller, decd. according to the best of my abilities & understanding. So help me God. H. P. Anderson Sworn to and subscribed before me the 28th day of Aug. 1847. Tho. VanHook, Clerk State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Henry P. Anderson, Curator as principle and William B. Cooper & John F. Bufford, his securities are held and firmly bound unto George W. Copley, Judge of the 12th Judicial District and holding session in and for the said Parish and state for the time being and to his successors in office in the sum of twenty two thousand two hundred dollars & to insure the true faithful payment of the above obligation we bind ourselves, our heirs & our assigns firmly by these presents dated and signed on this 28th day of august Ad 1848 for the purpose & on the conditions hereinafter set forth to wit: That whereas the said Henry P. Anderson has been appointed by the Clerk of said parish curator of the vacant Estate of Fielding Miller, deceased and does make & deliver this obligation for the purpose of securing to the heirs & legal representatives of the said Fielding Miller, deceased, a faithful administration of said Estate. Now if the said Henry P. Anderson shall faithfully discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him as curator aforesaid & shall renew a true and faithful account of all his acts and doings as aforesaid which he shall be legally required so to do by the said Judge or his successors in office or by the legal heirs or representatives of the said Fielding Miller, decd. Then the above & foregoing obligation to be null & void or else to be & remain in full force & effect signed & acknowledged on this 28th day of August AD 1847. Tho. VanHook, Clk. H. P. Anderson Wm.
