B. Mitchell served as a 3rd Lieutenant in Company E, 4th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment, receiving a parole at Monroe on 9 June 1865. This unit was formed in Union Parish, so it is extremely likely that this is John B. Mitchell who died the year after his military service ended. John B. Mitchell lived in southern Union Parish near Downsville in 1860 with his wife, children, brother, and mother. He was born about 1826 in Tennessee. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 259 - 277 ================================================================================= ================================================================================= To the Honorable the Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District Court in and for the Union Parish, Louisiana.
