The petition of George W. Moore, residence of said Parish and State respectfully represents to your Honor that on or about the 18th July 1856 his first wife Eliza A. Reed departed this life in said Parish of Union leaving at the issue of her marriage with petitioner the children which were then and are still minors named respectively Susan A., George W. and Thomas J. Moore. That his said deceased wife left at her death an Estate which was inherited by her said children and which was received by Petitioner as their father. Petitioner further avers that he has never been confirmed as Natural Tutor to his said children and he desires to be so confirmed with a review to his readiation of his accounts as Tutor. Wherefore he prays he be confirmed as Tutor to his said minor children and that Richard T. Moore be appointed Under Tutor to said minors and for such further orders and decrees as the nature of the case may require and as is duly bound &c. Todd, Brigham & Carr, Attys. The petition of George W. Moore, a resident of your Parish and State with respect represents that Ann E. Reid formerly of this Parish was legally married to your petitioner about the 22nd of July 1847, further represents that his said wife departed this life intestate on or about the 18th day of July 1856 at petitioner’s residence in your said Parish leaving an Estate consisting of real and personal property, rights and credits and a community acquisition and gains existing between petitioner and deceased. Also leaving 3 children to wit: Susan A., George W. and Thos. J. Moore, sole heirs of said Estate. Petitioner avers that an administration of said Estate is necessary and he as father of said minor children and being partner in community is entitled to the administrations of his said deceased wife’s Estate. Wherefore he prays that this his application be filed and advertised according to law and that after all legal delays he be appointed and confirmed administrator of said Estate. Petitioner further avers that an Inventory of said Estate is necessary. He therefore prays that Wm. C. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public of your Parish and State be ordered and authorized to make an Inventory of all the property of said Estate as directed by law and due return make thereof to your Honorable Court. He further prays for all other orders necessary and for relief. F. E. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said parish of union directed authorizing and commanding me to make an Inventory and Appraisement of the property belonging to the Estate of Mrs. Eliza Ann Moore (Reid) late of Union parish and whereas being assisted by David Redden and George W. Lowery, two good and lawful citizens of the Parish of Union, who being duly appointed and sworn by me as appraisers and in presence of witnesses proceeded to make said Inventory and Appraisement as herein after set forth: 720 acres of land more or less numbers not furnished situated in the parish of Union being the same land and premises George W. Moore, her surviving husband now resides with the improvements situated thereon appraised to be worth in cash two dollars per acre making fourteen hundred and forty dollars $1440.00 1200 bushels of corn apprd. @ 1200.00 6 mules apprd. @ 600.00 25 head cattle apprd. @ 125.00 100 head stock hogs apprd. @ ___150.00 Total amount of inventory $3515.00 The above property presented as community property existing between deceased and her surviving husband Geo. W. Moore. Thus done and signed in my office in the Town of Farmerville on this the 7th day of December AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy two in presence of [blank] and [blank] witnesses called for the purpose who sign with said appraisers and me Recorder. Tompkins, Judge of the parish Court of Union Parish, Louisiana and unto his successors in the just and full sum of four thousand five hundred dollars to the true and full payment of which will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, administrators and legal representatives firmly and in solido by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, Louisiana this 7th day of December AD 1872. The conditions of the above obligation are such that whereas the above bounden George W. Moore has been duly and legally appointed administrator of the Estate of Eliza A. Moore, Deceased and he has taken the oath required by law. Now therefore if the above bounden George W. Moore as principal shall faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him as Administrator of said Estate and shall render to the Judge of the Parish Court aforesaid a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall when legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature that he may have in his possession belonging to said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same then this obligation to be null and void. Moore, a resident of your Parish and State and Administrator of the Estate of Eliza A. Moore, decd. with respect represents that said Estate is held in community between petitioner and the heirs of said Moore and that it consists in land and personal effect and that a sale of said property is necessary of all the property belonging to said Estate in order to settle said Estate. Premises considered, petitioner prays that an order may issue from your Honorable Court directed to him authorizing him to sell all the property both real and personal belonging to said Estate on the [blank] of Administrator of Eliza A. Moore, decd. and after due and legal advertisements in accordance to law and for all other orders necessary in the premises. F. E. Mayo, Atty. Premises considered, it is ordered that G. W. Moore, Administrator of the Succession of Eliza A. Moore, decd. is hereby authorized to sell the property described therein after due and legal advertisement and the return thereof make to this office. Tompkins Parish Judge State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the [blank] day of February AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy three that I, George W. Moore, Senior the surviving husband of Eliza Reid, Decd., late of the parish of union and partner in community have this day entered into a settlement and partition of the community property existing between him and said George W. Moore and his said wife Eliza A. Reid at the time of her death with the heirs of the said Eliza Moore to wit: Susan A. Moore, the wife of Dometrious C. Cooper, George W. Moore, Jr., and Thomas J. Moore said heirs all being present and authorized to act for themselves. They represent the following described tract of land situated in the parish of Union to belong to said community interest one half of which is admitted belongs to heirs of Eliza A. Reid, Decd. The W ½ of the W ½ of Sect. 36 and the North West Quarter of South East Quarter of Section 36 T. 21 R. two West containing 200 acres more or less of the E ½ of South East quarter of South West quarter of South East quarter of Section 35. The North East quarter and the East half of the North West quarter and North East quarter of South West quarter of Section 35 and the West half of the South East quarter and North half of South West quarter and South east quarter of South West quarter of Section No. 26 all in township No. Twenty one Range two West containing 800 acres of land to be partitioned between George W. Moore, Sr. who is the proper owner of one half and his three children above named who is entitled to the other half. An whereas by common consent all parties interested being authorized to act for themselves have consented and allotted between themselves the above described land as follows to wit: George W. Moore, Sr. the surviving husband and partner in community receives the following land as his half to wit: The NW ¼ of NW ¼ Section 36 T 21 R 2 West The NE ¼ of NE ¼ Section 35 T 21 R 2 West The W ½ of NE ¼ Section 35 T 21 R 2 West The W ½ of SE ¼ Section 26 T 21 R 2 West The N ½ of SW ¼ Section 26 T 21 R 2 West Containing three hundred and twenty acres more or less [NOTE: the next section of the page is too faded to read] Thomas J. Moore receives as his interest in the above described land to wit: The S ½ of SE 1/4 Section 35, T 2, R 2 West The SW ¼ of SW 1/4 Section 36, T 2, R 2 West The NW ¼ of SE 1/4 Section 36, T 2, R 2 West Containing one hundred and sixty acres more or less The said George W. Moore, Sen. does by these presents grant, bargain, sell [unreadable] and deliver unto the above parties. Hairs aforesaid his full and entire interest to each in the land set apart to each one as above to have and to hold the same forever with full and complete community title and the said Susan A. Moore, wife of D. C. Coplen herein authorized by her said husband, George W. Moore, Jr. and Thomas J. Moore does by these presents agree [NOTE: the rest of this page and pages 525-528 are too light to read] Succession of Eliza A. Moore, Decd. Parish Court, Union Parish, State of Louisiana By reason of the law and evidence and by further reason of the annexed final account and Tableau of Distribution of G. W. Moore, Administrator of the Succession of Eliza A. Moore, Decd. wife with said Succession having been duly administered according to law for more than ten days and there being no opposition filed to said account and Tableau of Distribution. It is ordered, adjudged and decreed that said final account and Tableau of Distribution of the said G. W. Moore, Administration of the Estate of Eliza A. Moore be and the same is hereby allowed, approved and homologated in all its parts and it is further ordered and decreed that the said G. W. Moore, Administrator of said Estate pay the said charges amounting to the sum of one hundred and fifty nine dollars and fifty cents. It is further decreed that upon the production of the receipts for the payment of said one hundred and fifty nine dollars and fifty cents, then the bond of said Moore as Administrator be cancelled and annotated and the said administrator be finally discharged from further administration of said Succession of Eliza A. Moore, Decd. Done, read and signed in open court on this the 13th day of May 1873. Thos. C. Lewis Parish Judge [NOTE: Top of page is too faded to read.] Obligation to the emancipation of your petitioner if any have to fill his evidence consist as required by law. Petitioner further prays that after a legal hearing of this application, it be decreed that petitioner be emancipated and relieved of all the disabilities which now attach to minors with full force to do and perform all acts as fully as if he had arrived at the age of Twenty one years. Petitioner further prays for all other orders necessary in the premises and for general relief. F. E. Mayo Atty. for Petitioner I hereby accept service of the foregoing petitioner and a father of my son Thomas J. Moore, the petitioner, and give my consent to the emancipation of petitioner and I, further declare that the minor T. J. Moore as aforesaid is fully capable of managing his own affairs or business. This done the 1st day of February AD 1872. G. W. Moore By reason of the law and evidence in this case being in favor of the application of Thomas J. Moore, Jun. And by the further reason of the consent of George W.
