The petition of Lorenzo Morris, a resident of your said Parish respectfully represents that [blank] Morris late of said parish departed this life at his residence in said Parish intestate on or about the month of January AD 1865 leaving an estate consisting of land, household and kitchen furniture and other personal property. Also the following heirs to wit: Petitioner; Mathew Morris, resident of the said Parish; Caroline, wife of Thomas Nash; Susan, wife of Henry Gonlar[?]; Martha, wife of Uriah Davis; and Elijah Morris, all residents of the State of Alabama who are the children of deceased. Petitioner represents that being one of the heirs of said estate he has a legal right to the administration and therefore prays that an Inventory and appraisement may be made according to law and that after due proceedings, he may be appointed Administrator of the same and for such other orders in the premises as the case requires. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is ordered that the within application of Lorenzo Morris to be appointed Administrator of the Estate of Dennis Morris, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to the said Estate and due return thereof make to this office. Lewis Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered and by reason of the proper and legal advertisement having been made and no opposition being filed thereto, it is ordered and decreed that Lorenzo Morris be and he is hereby appointed as Administrator of the Estate of Dennis Morris and that upon his giving bond with good security and taking the oath prescribed by law, that Letters of Administration do issue to him. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas, Lorenzo Morris has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the Estate of Dennis Morris, Decd. and he has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Lorenzo Morris is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and seal of office on this 16th day of November AD 1865. Thos. C. Lewis Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Lorenzo Morris as principle and Marshall Day, Alfred Reppond as his securities are held and firmly bound unto Honorable J. D. Watkins Judge of the 11th Judicial District in and for Union Parish, La. for the time being or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of six hundred and fifty ($650.00) dollars to the true and faithful payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. this 16th day of November AD 1865. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Lorenzo Morris has been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of Dennis Morris, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Lorenzo Morris shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him as Administrator of the said Estate and shall render to the Judge of said Court a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature received by him and belonging to the said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same. Then this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principal and his said securities. Lewis Lorenzo Morris Clerk, District Court Marshal Day Alfred Repond To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana The petition of Lorenzo Morris, Administrator of the Estate of Dennis Morris, Decd. duly appointed and qualified by your Honorable court, a resident of said Parish respectfully represents unto your honor that the interest of the Estate requires that the personal property of the same being unproductive and expensive to keep and also that in order to effect the petitioner it is necessary to sell the land as will appear by having reference to the number of heirs and the inventory of the Estate. He therefore prays that an order issue allowing the sale of the whole of the property of said Estate. That Petitioner be authorized to make the said sale and that the sale may be on a credit of twelve months. He prays for such further orders in the premises as may be necessary and for general relief. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Let the prayer of the within petition be granted and it is ordered and decreed that all the property both real and personal belonging to the Estate of Dennis Morris, Decd. be sold and the Articles of the Code of Practice regulating such sales. It is further ordered that Lorenzo Morris, the Administrator of the said estate be and he is hereby authorized to make the said sale on a credit of twelve months, purchasers giving notes with good and approved security.
