Nichlas enlisted as a private in Company C, 19th Regiment Louisiana Infantry at Spearsville on 4 March 1863. The roll for June 30 - Oct 31, 1863 listed him as deserting at Jackson, Mississippi on 16 July 1863. However, the Yankee records show him as a Prisoner of War, captured near Jackson, Mississippi in July 1863. He was received at Snyder's Bluff, Mississippi on July 30, then forwarded to Camp Morton, Indiana on August 7. He died on 29 October 1863 at Camp Morton. Undoubtedly, this W. Nichlas is Wilson Nicholas. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana.
