Norman, Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book E, pp. 761 - 766 ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The petition of Martha H. Norman, resident of said parish and widow of Courtney L. Norman, late of the said Parish, respectfully represents that her said husband Courtney L. Norman, Decd. departed this life on or about the 20th day of September last leaving her a widow in community and two minor children the issue of the said marriage. Also leaving a considerable Estate consisting of negroes and personal property, rights, credits and debts. She prays that an inventory be made and that she be appointed Administrrix of said Estate and Natural Tutrix to her said children and that Benjamin Ford be appointed under tutor, and such other orders as may be necessary. Norman to be appointed administratrix of the Estate of C. L. Norman, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that W. C. Smith, parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish and State be and he is authorized to make and inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the said estate of C. L. Norman, Decd. and due return thereof make to this office without delay. Done and signed in office this 10th day of October 1861. Jas. L. Norman be and she is hereby appointed Administratrix of the Estate of C. L. Norman as principal and Thomas Norsworthy as her security are held and firmly bound unto W. G. Egan, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union and State of Louisiana or to his successors in office in the sum of Thirty two hundred and seventy one dollars. To the true and faithful payment thereof, we bind ourselves, our heirs, and assigns to solido on this the 25th day of October AD 1861. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Martha H. Norman has been appointed Administratrix of the Estate of C. L. Norman, Decd. and she has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Martha H. Norman shall faithfully and impartially discharge and administer said Estate and shall do and perform all the acts in and about said Estate and shall render a true and correct accounting to the Judge of said court or to his successors in office or to the legal heirs of said Estate when required legally so to do, then this obligation to be null and void or otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect against the principal and his securities. Norman, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on me as Administratrix of the Estate of C. L. Norman is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all acts appertaining to said appointment according to law.
