The petition of Lavinia Norman, Alias Odom of your said Parish and State, with respect represents unto your Honor that her husband Jamison Odom, late of said Parish departed this life on or about the 30th day of July last 1843 leaving your petitioner his widow and the following named and aged child issue of his marriage with your petitioner to wit: Permeliann Odom, aged about seven months besides some property which your petitioner prays your Honor to cause an inventory and appraisement to be made and that she be confirmed as Natural Tutrix of her minor child and be allowed to administer the succession in her capacity as Tutrix and that an Under Tutor be appointed and for such other and further relief as may be necessary as your Petitioner ever prays. Lavinia Odom Let the prayer of the petitioner be granted and she be confirmed as Natural Tutrix and that James Killam be appointed Under Tutor. Done and signed in chambers on this 7th day of August AD 1843. John Taylor, Judge State of Louisiana Parish of Union Whereas Lavinia Odom has been confirmed as Natural Tutrix of her minor child Permiliann Odom, issue by her marriage with Jamison Odom, deceased and has taken the oath as prescribed by law. Now therefore, she is hereby authorized and fully empowered to discharge and perform all and singular the duties appertaining to the said appointment according to law. In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name and affixed my seal of office on this 7th day of August AD 1843. John Taylor Judge of Probates State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this day of August AD 1843 that I John Taylor, Parish Judge and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish and State having received official information of the death of Jamison Odom late of this Parish who departed this life on or about the last of July AD 1843 leaving his widow and one minor child Permiliann minor aged about seven months besides a small estate consisting of rights, credits and personal property. I have this day of August repaired to the late residence of said decedent for the purpose of making an inventory and appraisement of said Estate and for that purpose have appointed James Killam and Thomas M. Hand freeholders, resident of said parish to appraise said Estate. Inventory Appraisement One note on William Norman for $23.00 One note on Cotny Norman for 22.00 One note on Calvin Norman 22.00 One bay more ten years old apprd. @ 30.00 One bay more seven years old apprd. @ 30.00 About twenty head of hogs apprd. @ $1.00 per hd. 20.00 Five head cattle apprd. @ $5 per hd. 25.00 The claim on public land and crop growing on It apprd. @ 175.00 One shot gun apprd. @ [blank] We the undersigned appraisers certify the amount of the Estate of Jamison Odom having appraised by us as two hundred and eighty dollars. Three notes $67 in testimony whereof said parties, appraisers have signed their names in presence of the undersigned witnesses and me Judge on this 7th day of August AD 1843. Witness: J.
