Parks, Dec'd., Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book G, pp. 190 – 196 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE: The 1870 Mortality Schedule indicates that William Parks was a farmer born about 1822 in Georgia, and that he died in December of "Intermittent fever". He must have moved into Union Parish in the 1860s, for he is not listed on either the 1850 or 1860 censuses. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the Parish Court of Union Parish, State of Louisiana. The petition of Hugh Yongue, a resident of the Parish of Ouachita, State of Louisiana respectfully shows that about the month of December 1869 William A. Parks, a resident of your Parish of Union departed this life intestate. That he left no Estate except a life Insurance policy payable to his legal representatives, said Policy the company [unreadable] refused to pay except to a legally appointed administrator. The heirs of said Estate yielding their rights to administer the same to your petitioner and requesting him to do so. He therefore prays that this his application be duly advertised and after the legal delays that the petitioner be appointed administrator of the Estate of W. A. Parks, decd. He further prays for an Inventory and Appraisement of said Estate and for all orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief &c. Jno. L. Barrett Atty. for Petr. Parks, deceased, the premises considered, it is hereby ordered, adjudged and decreed that the within and foregoing application of Hugh Yongue to be appointed Administrator of the Estate of William A. Parks, decd. be advertised according to law and be it further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Notary Public proceed to make an Inventory and Appraisement of said Estate of William A. Parks, decd. according to law and due return thereof make to this court. Done and signed in chambers on this May 5th AD 1870. By T. B. Tompkins Parish Judge State of Louisiana Parish of Union Premises considered and by reason that the within application has been duly advertised for more than ten days prior to this date and no opposition has been filed thereto, it is hereby ordered that Hugh Yongue be and is hereby appointed Administrator of the Estate of Wm. A. Parks, decd. and upon his taking the oath required by law and giving bond with good security that letters of Administration issue to him according to law. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on the 16th day of May AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy (1870) pursuant to an order issued from his Honor T. B. Tompkins, Parish Judge bearing date May 5th 1870 authorizing and commanding me to make an Inventory and appraisement of the property belonging to the Estate of William A. Parks, deceased and being assisted by W. C. Glasson and W. W. Guthrie, two good and lawful citizens of said parish who being duly appointed and sworn by me as appraiser proceeded to make said Inventory and Appraisement at my office in the town of Farmerville the only property presented consisted in a Live Insurance Policy on the life of W. A. Parks in favor of his heirs or legal representatives No. [blank] in the Atlas Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Saint Louis, Mo. for the sum of Ten thousand dollars appraised to be worth in cash nine thousand eight hundred dollars ($9800.00) Thus done and signed in my office on this the 16th day of May AD One thousand eight hundred and seventy in presence of the under signed lawful and competent witnesses called for the purpose. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish Court Parish of Union $12,250.00 Know all men by these presents that we Hugh Yongue as principal and Levy J. Parks and William Parks as security are held and firmly bound to the Honorable T. B. Tompkins, Judge of the Parish Court in and for Union Parish, La. for the time being or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of Twelve thousand two hundred and fifty dollars. To the true and full payment thereof we bind ourselves, our executors, administrators and legal representatives firmly and in solido by these presents dated at Farmerville, La. this 15th day of May AD 1870. The conditions of this obligation is such that whereas the said Hugh Yongue has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the Estate of W. A. Parks, deceased and he has taken the oath required by law. Now therefore, if the said Hugh Yongue shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on him as Administrator of the said Estate and shall when legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property belonging to the said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same. Then this obligation to be null and void. Otherwise, to be and remain in full force according to law. H. Yongue Wm. Parks Levi J. Parks, decd. and he has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Hugh Yongue is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to law. The administrator charges himself with the amount of the Inventory of the Estate of Wm. A. parks, Decd. made by Wm. C. The petition of Hugh Yongue Administrator of the Estate of W. A. Parks, Decd. respectfully show that he has fully completed the administration of said Estate and has filed herewith a full, complete and final account of his said Administration from which account it will appear that after having all of the debts of said Estate, there is a balance of assets in the hands of the Administrator of nine thousand and seventeen dollars 45/100 which he is ready to pay to the heirs. Wherefore he prays that all of the heirs of the Estate of Wm. A. Parks, decd. be duly notified of this account that the same be advertised according to law and after the legal delays that this his final account be approved and homologated and that he be discharged as Administrator and his bond be canceled and for general relief &c. Parks, Decd. Parish Court of Union Parish, La. In the matter of the final account of the Administration. By reason of the final account of Hugh Yongue, Admr. of the above Estate having been legally advertised for more than ten days and the heirs having been notified thereof and no opposition thereto having been made, it is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed that the foregoing account be approved and homologated and upon the said Administrator paying over to the heirs the balance due by him, that his bond be cancelled.
