Court Union Parish, Louisana--Emancipation of the Minor, Rufus Phelps. Petition, affidavit & order of emancipatio. To the Honorable John B. Holstead, Judge of the Fourth Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish, Louisiana. The petition of Rufus Phelps, a minor over the age of eighteen years and a resident of Union Parish, Louisiana, and of his tutor, Fred W. Phelps, also a resident of Union Parish, with respect, show: That petitioner, Rufus Phelps, is a minor over the age of eighteen years and has as his tutor your petitioner, Fred W. Phelps. That said minor ws born on the 11th day of December 1897; that said minor's mother is dead and his father has long since been an absentee from the State of Louisiana; that said minor is interested in some property which he inherited from his deceased grandmother and deceased great-grandfather, and is fully capable of managing his own affairs and desires to be emancipated and relieved of all the disabilities which attach to minors. Wherefore, the premises and the annexed affidavit considered, petitioers [sic] pray that the minor, Rufus Phelps, be duly emancipated and relieved of all the disabilities which attach to minors, with full power to do and perform all the things which may be lawfully done by a person over the age of twenty-one years, and for general relief. Crow & Dibgy [sic], Attorneys for petitioner. AFFADAVIT* State of Louisian, Parish of Union Fred W. Phelps, being by me duly sworn, deposes and says that he is the duly qualified tutor of the above named minor, Rufus Phelps, that he well knows that he is capable of managing his own affairs, that affiant has read the foregoing petition, and that all the facts and allegations made therein made and contained are true and correct, so help him God. Fred W. Phelps Sworn to and subscribed before me the 19th day of October, 1916. John M. Futch, Dy. Clerk of Court, etc. ORDER OF EMANCIPATION. It is hereby ordered that the minor, Rufus Phelps, be and he is hereby emancipated and relieved of all the disabilities which attach to minors, with full power to do and perform all acts as fully as if had attained the age of twnety-one years.
