Phillips, a resident of your said Parish and State and Under Tutor to the minor James Phillips, George W. Phillips, & Brady J. Phillips, minor heirs of Alfred Phillips, Decd. respectfully represents unto your honorable Court that Charlotte S. Phillips, Natural Tutrix to said minors duly confirmed by your honorable Court departed this life some weeks since, leaving said minors without a Tutor. That under the law, it is the duty of your petitioner as Under Tutor to cause another Tutor to be appointed to said minors. Wherefore petitioner prays your honor that a family meeting composed of their relatives and friends of said minors be convoked before W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex Officio Notary Public for the purpose of recommending some suitable person to be appointed by your Honorable Court Tutor to said minors and for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and finally for general relief. Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish on Saturday the 21st day of January 1865 at 12 O’clock PM to consult on the matters and things set forth in the petition and that he make due return of the same to this office. Phillips has been recommended by the advice of a family meeting duly convoked before William C. Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex Offico Notary Public in and for Union Parish, La. Tutor of the following minor heirs of the Estate of Alfred Phillips to wit: James Phillips, George W. Phillips and Nancy J. Phillips and said appointment as been made and confirmed by the Clerk of 11th Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish, La. and to the said William H. Phillips has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Then, therefore the said William H. Phillips is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to said appointment accord to law. Alfred so solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on me as Under Tutor of the following minor heirs of the Estate of Alfred Phillips, Decd. to wit: James, George W. and Nancy J. Phillips according to the best of my knowledge and understanding. So help me God. Green (his X mark) B. Alfred Sworn to and subscribed before me this 20th day of January AD 1866. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk, Dist. Court Tutorship of the minor heirs of Alfred Phillips, Decd. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas Green B. Alfred has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Under Tutor of the following minor heirs of the Estate of Alfred Phillips, Decd. to wit: James, George W. and Nancy J. Phillips and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore, the said Green B. Alfred is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to the said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and seal of office this 20th day of January AD 1866. Thos. C. Lewis Clerk, Dist. Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we William H. Phillips as principal and Green B. Alfred and Edward Benson, as his securities are held and firmly bound unto the Honl. J. D. Watkins, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish, La. in the just and full sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1500.00) to the true and faithful payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns and legally representatives firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. this 20th day of January AD 1866. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said William H. Phillips has been duly appointed Tutor of the following minor heirs of the Estate of Alfred Phillips, Decd. to with: James Phillips, George W. Phillips and Nancy J. Phillips by and with the advise of a family meeting and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore, if the said William H. Phillips shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him as Tutor of the said minors and shall render to the Judge of said Court a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Tutorship and shall faithfully look after the interest of said minors in all things thereto pertaining and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature belonging to the said minors to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principle and his said securities.
