C. Post enlisted as a private on 7 May 1864 at Farmerville in Company F, 2nd Battalion Louisiana Heavy ARtillery. He was enlisted by Captain Abraham A. Cann. He was absent without leave at the muster on 31 August 1864. On 31 October 1864, he was present but on special guard duty at "Mill". Post was present for duty on 31 December 1864 and 28 February 1865. On 30 April 1865, he was absent and "sick at home in Union Parish La." He must have died soon afterwards. There are several Union Parish Post families, but I cannot connect this David to any of them. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that I William M. Post, Administrator of the Estate of D. M. C. Post, Decd. pursuance to an order from the 11th Judicial District Court for said parish did no the 10th day of July AD 1866 offer for sale to the last and highest bidder at the late residence of said Decd. for cash all the property belonging to said Estate, both real and personal. Wherefore the following named persons became purchasers as follows to wit: Mrs. Jane Post surviving widow of Decd. bought the following described tract of land to wit: [blank] for the full sum of Two hundred and forth dollars $240.00 Mrs. Janes Post bought 1 wagon 80.00 17 head hogs 20.00 20 head sheep 20.00 3 head cattle 14.00 3 head ox 40.00 1 rifle gun 5.00 Household and Kitchen furniture 125.00 1 lot sundries 6.00 1 balance 20.00 1 Pr. Stilyards 1.00 1 loom 5.00 2 pr. geers 5.00 1 grind stone 12.00 60 lb Lard 5.00 15 lb wool 50.00 Mare and colt [blank] Now therefore I, William M. Post as administrator of said Estate vested of the Authority in me do hereby transfer, sell and deliver unto said purchasers all said property, guaranteeing all the rights and credits vested in said Estate, in testimony whereof I hereto sign my name officially in the presence of R. W. Futch and [blank] witness on this the day and date above written. ATTEST: R. W. Futch Wm. Post, Admr. Jas. L. Guthrie To the Honorable Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court for Union parish, State of Louisiana. The petition of Wm. Post a resident of the Parish aforesaid respectfully represents that petitioner is the Administrator of the Estate of David C. M. Post, Decd. A final account of which Estate is hereto presented as follows: Administrator charges himself with amount of process verbal of sale $613.00 And asks for the following debts which he has paid 1st Clerk’s fees 18.85 2nd Recorders fees 4.00 3rd Printers fees 19.00 4th Attorneys fees 30.00 The balance Administrator has paid to the surviving widow privilege claims of one thousand dollars. There being nothing to pay toward ordinary debts, the Admr. has not though it necessary to take any notice of them. Petitioner prays your Honor that the account be advertised according to Law and after all legal delays this account be duly homologated in all its parts and the Administrative bond be canceled and he be discharged from said Administration for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. R. W. Futch, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered and decreed that the within final account of Wm. Post Admr. of the Estate of David M. C. Post Decd. be advertised according to law. Done and signed in office this 27th day of July AD 1866. J. W. Reid Clerk, District Court In the matter of the homologation of the final account filed by Wm. Post as Administrator of the Estate of David C. M. Post Deceased, J. W. Reid, clerk, District Court sworn says that he was the acting Clerk of the Court on July last that the said final account was filed in the clerk’s office on the 27th day of July AD 1866 and has been duly and legally advertised for more than thirty days prior to this date by publication in a weekly newspaper published in the town of Farmerville called the Union Record and by posting at the door of the Court house in said Parish and that no opposition has been filed to the homologation of the same. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District court Parish of Union I do hereby certify that the above to be all the evidence adduced on the homologation of the final account filed by Wm. Post as Admr. of the Estate of David C. M. Post, Decd. Given under my hand and seal of office this 1st day of September AD 1866. J. W. Reid Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union By reason of the law and evidence in this case and by further reason of the proper and legal advertisement having been made and no opposition being filed to the homologation of the account, it is ordered, adjudged and decreed that this account be and the same is hereby allowed, approved and homologated in all its parts according to Law.
