Rabun and Mary Ann Ratcliff Petition: Filed February 12, 1864 To the Honorable the Judge or the Eleventh Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Catharine Rabun of the Parish and State aforesaid respectfully represents unto your Honorable Court that John T. Rabun, Amanda M. Rabun and Samuel Luginia Rabun and her own children, minors, the issue of the marriage of petitioner with John Rabun her late husband who is now dead. And further that Mary Ann Ratcliff is the grand daughter of petitioner and that the father and mother of the said Mary Ann Ratcliff are both dead. Wherefore she prays that she be appointed and confirmed the Natural Tutrix of all the aforesaid minors according to law and for general relief etc. Jno. L. Barrett, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is ordered and decreed that Catherine Rabun be and she is hereby appointed and confirmed as Natural Tutrix to her minor children to wit: John T. Rabun, Amanda M. Rabun, Samuel L. Rabun and to her minor grand child Mary Ann Ratcliff and that upon her taking the oath prescribed by law, that letters issue to her. It is further ordered that John M. Rabun be appointed Under Tutor to said minors and upon his taking the oath prescribed by law that letters do issue to him. Done and signed in office this 12th day of February AD 1864. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union I, Catherine Rabun, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully & impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on me as Natural Tutrix of the following minor heirs of John Rabun, decd. to wit: John T. Rabun, Amanda M., Saml. L. Rabun, and also my grand daughter, Mary Ann Ratcliff to the best of my ability and understanding. So help me God.
