Smith, Recorder Petition for Inventory & Sale for purpose of partition: Filed December 10, 1872 To the Honorable the Judge of the Parish Court in & for the parish of Union, Louisiana. The petition of Milly Rabun, Tutrix of the following minor heirs of Louisa Rabun, decd. viz: Hardy Rabun and Emily Rabun, a resident of your said Parish and State respectfully represents that her said wards are owners in common with the other heirs of the Estate of Louis Rabun, decd. of certain property both real and personal situated in your said Parish, that she desires (and she is informed that it is the desire of all parties interested) to have the property partitioned among the heirs, that an appraisement of all said property and a sale thereof on a credit of twelve months is proper as an initiatory step toward making an equitable partition of said Property. Premises considered, petitioner prays that Wm. C. Smith, Parish Recorder, etc. of your said Parish be duly authorized to make an inventory & appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate of Louis Rabun, decd., that she be authorized to make a sale of all said property on a credit of twelve months, purchasers being required to give their notes with approved security, bearing eight per cent interest from day of sale, with special mortgage and vendors privilege retained on real estate to secure the price of same. Petition for appointment of Tutrix (Natural): Filed Oct. 4, 1867 To the Hon. Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court holding session in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Milly Rabun, a resident of your said State & Parish with respect represents that she is the surviving wife and widow in community of Lewis Rabun, deceased, late of your said State and Parish, who died about the 9th day of September 1867, leaving eleven heirs at law to his succession to wit: The children of Francis Rabun, deceased, who was the oldest of the children of the marriage of your petitioner with said deceased, Martha Ann Rabun, Civilla Rabun, John A. Rabun, Hannah L. Rabun, and Isaac Rabun, all of whom have arrived at the age of majority, also Lewis Rabun, Marion P. Rabun, Nancy A. Rabun, Hardy M. Rabun, and Emily Alferita Rabun who are minors. She farther represents that all the property of the Succession of her said deceased husband is community property made and acquired since their said marriage and in your said State and that she is therefore the owner in her own right of the undivided one half of said Estate, and entitled by law to the usufruct of the other one half as widow in community. She farther represents that the said Succession is not in debt and that an administration is unnecessary. She therefore prays that her rights in the premises be decreed and that she be confirmed as natural tutrix of the aforesaid minor heirs, she also prays that William Beard, of same residence, be appointed Under tutor, and finally petitioiner prays for all orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. Reid Clerk, District Court Petition for Sale of Personal Property: Filed Nov. 16, 1867 State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union The petition of Milly Rabun, Tutrix of the minor heirs of Lewis Rabun, deceased with respect presents that certain personal property belonging to the minor heirs of the said Lewis Rabun, decd. is liable to deterioration and loss of value b y being kept on hand. The property to be sold being as follows: One mare & colt; 18 head cattle; 8 head sheep; and one ox wagon. Wherefore she prays that an order issue from your Honorable court authorizing the sale of said Property and that she b e authorized to make the said sale and due return make thereof and finally petitioner prays for all orders & decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. Court Process Verbal of sale of personal Property: Filed Dec. 7, 1867 Tutorship of the minor heirs of Lewis Rabun, decd. Process Verbal of Sale Pursuant to an order of the Honorable the 11th Judicial District Court and to me directed, bearing date of 16th of October 1867, I proceeded after due and legal advertisement, on the 30th day of Oct. 1867 to sell certain property belonging to the aforesaid minor heirs, the property hereafter name being the property and the names opposite becoming purchasers at the prices named. 4 head cattle bought by Lewis Cooper $16.00 1 Bay mare bought by Wm.
