The petition of Mary Ramsey a resident of your said Parish and State respectfully represents unto your honorable court that her husband Levi Ramsey, late of the same residence departed this life sometime during the year of 1863 leaving a small estate which is in an unsettled condition and that an Administrator is necessary. Wherefore, petitioner prays your honor that after due advertisement and all other legal delays, she be appointed Administratrix to the succession of he said husband Levi Ramsey and that letters of Administration issue accordingly and for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and finally for general relief. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas Mary E. Ramsey has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administratrix of the Estate of Levi Ramsey, Decd. and she has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore, the said Mary E. Ramsey is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to the said appointment according to law. Ramsey as principle and John M. Rabun as her securities are held and firmly bound unto Honorable J. D. Watkins, Judge of the 115th Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish, Louisiana for the time being or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of Two thousand five hundred and twenty dollars to the true and faithful payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Date at Farmerville, Louisiana this 29th day of November 1865. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Mary E. Ramsey had been duly appointed and confirmed as Administratrix of the Estate of Levi Ramsey, Decd. and she has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore, if the said Mary E. Ramsey shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on her as Administratrix of the said Estate and shall render to the Judge of the said court a true and faithful account of all her acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature received by her and remain in her possession belonging to the said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. Otherwise, to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principal and her said securities. Done, signed and acknowledged before me on this the day and date above written. Thos. C. Lewis Mary E. Ramsey Clerk, District court Jno. M. Rabun To the Honorable Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Mary E. Ramsey, a resident of your Parish and Administratrix of the Estate of Levi Ramsey, Decd. respectfully represents unto your honor that the interest in the lot in Farmerville belong to said Estate is of no profit to said Estate and that it will be to sell it. Wherefore petitioner prays your honor for an order of sale authorizing the sheriff of said Parish to sell said interest in said lot after due advertisement at public auction to the highest bidder for cash and for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is ordered and decreed that the prayer of the above petitioner be granted and that all the interest in the above mentioned town lot in Farmerville belonging to the Estate of Levi Ramsey, Decd. be sold in accordance with Articles 990 and 991 of the Code of Practice regulating such sale. It is further ordered that w. w. Guthrie, the sheriff of said Parish, be and he is hereby authorized to make the said sale and due return thereof make according to law. Lewis Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union I do hereby certify the above to be a true and correct copy of the original order for sale now on file in my office. In testimony whereof, I hereto sign my name officially and affix the seal of said court at Farmerville, Louisiana this 18th day of January 1866. Thos. C. Lewis Clerk, District Court Received in office on the 17th day of January 1866 and proceeded immediately to advertise the following described lot or property for sale in the case of the succession of Levi W. Ramsey, Decd. to wit: Commencing on the North East corner of Main and Jackson Streets in the Town of Farmerville and running thence South along Main Street 33 feet and 4 inches thence West one hundred and fifty feet ½ interest in said lot being the property of Levi W. Ramsey, Decd. and sold under this order. The other half interest being the property of F. H. Carr and sold by his consent. When after advertising the same according to law, I did on the 3rd day of march 1866 after reading the order, the advertisement and certificate of Mortgage proved to offer the same for sale to the highest and last bidder. When after crying the same a sufficient length of time Mrs. Mary E. Ramsey became the purchaser for the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars. She being the last and highest bidder and upon payment of one half that amount to me as Sheriff and the remaining half to F. H. Carr, she has become the owner of said lot. The petition of Mary E. Ramsey, Administratrix of the Estate of Levi Ramsey, Decd. respectfully represents unto your honor that it will be to the interest of said Estate to sell the tract of land described in the Inventory as the Ross Place situated in the Parish of Union and containing 80 acres more or less as it is expensive to the Estate and is not productive of any income. Wherefore, petitioner prays that your honor for an order of sale authorizing the Sheriff of the Parish of Union to sell said tract of land with all improvements thereon after legal advertisement &c and that said sale be for cash. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Let the prayer of the above petitioner be granted and it is ordered and decreed that the above mentioned and described tract of land belonging to the Estate of Levi Ramsey, Jr., Decd. be sold for cash in accordance with Articles 990, 991 and 992 code of Practice. It is further ordered that W. W. Guthrie, Sheriff of the Parish of Union, La. be and he is hereby authorized to make said sale and due return thereof make to this office. Lewis, District Clerk State of Louisiana Parish of Union By authority of an order issued out of the 11th Judicial District Court by the Clerk for the aforesaid Parish in said State and me as Sheriff of the same directed bearing date September 11th 1866 in the matter of the succession of Levi Ramsey, Jr., Decd., I did on the same day advertise the herein after described tract of land to sell at public outcry at the premises according to Articles 990, 991 and 992 C. P. on the 6th day of October 1866. When on said day I repaired to the premises and after reading the advertisement, certificate of Mortgage and order of sale &c proceeded to cry the said property in an audible voice when the after named person became the purchaser at the appraisement of the land specified and to the price named below which said land, I do hereby sell and deliver unto the purchaser, her heirs and assigns to hold forever I.E. all the rights, title and interest which the said Estate of Levi Ramsey has unto said land.
