The petition of Martha Ramsey, a resident of said Parish and State respectfully represents unto your Honor that Levi W. Ramsey, late of said Parish departed this life on or about November 1864 leaving a considerable estate consisting of real and personal property rights and credits and debts due. Petitioner represents that she is the widow in community and therefore entitled to the Administration of said estate. She therefore prays that an inventory and appraisement may be had according to law and that after due and legal proceedings, she may be appointed Administratrix of said estate and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as the nature of the case may require. It is further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate of Levi W. It is ordered and decreed that Martha Ramsey be and she is hereby appointed and confirmed as Administratrix of the Estate of Levi W. Ramsey, Decd. and that upon her giving bond with good security and taking the oath prescribed by law, that letters do issue to her. Done and signed in office on this the 3rd day of January AD 1865. Smith, Parish Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the 19th day of December AD one thousand eight hundred and sixty four pursuant to an order from the Honorable 11th Judicial District Court in and for said Parish, to me William C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c in and for said Parish directed commanding me to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate of Levi W. Ramsey, Decd. late of the Parish of Union, Louisiana. I appointed George A. Killgore and George W. Clayton of the Parish of Union as appraisers who being first duly sworn by me and in the presence of lawful and competent witnesses proceeded to make said inventory and appraisement as herein after set forth. Tract of Land situated in the Parish of Union, numbered as follows S ½ of SE qtr. Sec. 31 containing 80 25/100 acres; the SE ¼ of SW qtr. NE ¼ of SE qtr. And SE qtr. of NE qtr. of Sec. 31 containing 125 25/100 acres; the NW ¼ of SE qtr. Of Sec. 31 containing 40 80/100 acres; the SW ¼ of NE ¼ of Sec. 31 containing 40 80/100 acres; the NW ¼ of NE qtr. of Section 31 all in Township 22 Range one west containing 40 80/100 acres containing in the aggregate 320 74/100 acres apprd. @ $3 pre acre $962.22 1 bay horse apprd. @ 75.00 6 head cattle apprd. @ $5 per head 30.00 2000 pounds seed cotton more or less valued @ 50.00 1 old wagon valued @ 25.00 1 man’s saddle valued @ 10.00 1 lot of farming utensils valued @ 5.00 100 bushels corn more or less valued @ 50.00 500 pounds fodder valued @ 5.00 2 head sheep valued @ $2 per head 4.00 6 bee hives apprd. @ 6.00 1 trying square, 3 planes, 1 tenant saw valued @ ___3.75 $1225.97 Having completed the foregoing inventory and appraisement, I have on this the 19th day of December AD 1864 closed the same. In testimony whereof, I have caused aid appraisers to sign their names hereto in presence of R. F. Rabun and C. C. Smith, Parish Recorder State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Martha Ramsey, as principal and Simpson W. Ramsey as her security are held and firmly bound unto Honorable W. B. Egan, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for said Parish and State for the time being and to his securities in office in the just and full sum of fifteen hundred dollars to the true and faithful payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs assigns, administrators and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Date at Farmerville, La. this 3rd day of January 1865. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Martha Ramsey has been duly and legally appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Levi W. Ramsey, Decd. and she has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore, if the said Martha Ramsey shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on her in her said capacity as Administratrix and shall render to the Judge of said court a true and correct account of all her acts and doings in and about said estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature she has belonging to said estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect against the principal and said securities.
