(1770s - 1846). His wife, Olive Rozar (c1792 - after Dec 1849), was also born in Robeson County, the daughter of John Rozar (1763 - 1825/1829) and his wife Mariann. The Regans lived near the Rozars in North Carolina, but the two families took different paths to Georgia. Daniel Regan moved to Beaufort District South Carolina in the early 1790s and remained until about 1806, whereas John Rozar moved directly to Georgia by about 1794. Rozar lived in Jefferson County Georgia between 1796 and 1806, but when the white settlers began pushing west of the Oconee River in 1805 and 1806 following the first land lottery, both families settled near each other in what would soon become Pulaski County Georgia. Joseph Regan served in the Georgia Militia during the Creek War of 1813 - 1814, a sub-conflict of the War of 1812. Joseph and Olive lived in Pulaski County until the latter 1820s, when they moved to Dale County Alabama. After only a few years there, about 1833 they followed their siblings to Hinds County Mississippi, near Jackson. In 1836, Joseph began purchasing government land in northern Ouachita Parish Louisiana, the portion that would become Union Parish in 1839. Regan's farm lay several miles northwest of Farmerville, near Cherry Ridge. He died only a few months after the creation of the Parish of Union. Many of this descendents remain residents of this region to this day. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book A-2, pp. 77 - 86 ================================================================================= ================================================================================= To the Honorable Judge of the Court of Probates in and for the Parish of Union in the State of Louisiana.
