The older man was born about 1790 in North Carolina, lived on a farm near Marion with a large personal estate, and had wife M. Shaw born about 1800 in Georgia, and a son or grandson, "D. Shaw" born about 1839 in Alabama. It is probable that "D. Shaw" was also named 'Duche'. The younger man enlisted in the "Phoenix Rifles" on 23 October 1861 at Camp Moore. He died on 10 April 1862, probably of injuries suffered at the Battle of Pittsburg Landing (Shiloh) on either April 6 or 7. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas I have been informed that Duche Shaw, late of said Parish of Union deceased has a small Estate and that no one has applied or intends to apply for the Administration of the same.
