The petition of Alexander M. Taylor resident of said Parish respectfully represents that James Simmons the tutor to Sarah J. Simmons departed this life on or about the [blank] day of March 1860 leaving the said minor heirs unrepresented. He represents that he is under tutor to said minor and that it is necessary that another tutor should be appointed. He also represents that all the relations of said minor are residing in said Parish and that she has property in the Parish of Ouchita. He prays that a family meeting be held according to law to consulate on the appointment of a tutor and to advise means to remove the property of said minor to the Parish and for such other purposes as may come before them. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Let the prayer of the petitioner be granted and it is ordered that a family meeting consisting of [2 blank lines] friends and relation of said minors residing in said Parish be convoked before W. C. Smith, Recorder and Ex-Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish to consent on the matters and they set forth in the petition and that he make due return of the same. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the 2nd day of April AD 1860 in pursuance of an order of the 12th Judicial District Court within and for the Parish of Union, La. and to me William C. Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex-Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish. I caused to come before me at my office in the town of Farmerville the following citizens of the Parish of Union and relations of the Minor Sarah Jane Simmons, viz: John Taylor, George A. Kilgore, Jordon G. Taylor, Elijah M. Taylor and James A. Dean. Convoked as a family meeting on the petition of Alexander M. Taylor under tutor of the said minor Sarah J. Simmons and heir of James Simmons & date of Ouchita Parish, La. for the purpose of advising and recommending in regard to the appointment of a Tutor to the aforesaid minor and also to advise means to remove the property belonging to said minor from the Parish of Ouchita to this Parish. Said members being first duly sworn by me the said recorder proceeded to under consideration the things as set forth in said petition and after mature deliberation the advise and recommend that Jordon G. Taylor, Sen. be appointed Tutor to said minor Sarah Jane Simmons on giving bond and taking the oath according to law. They further advised and recommend that the tutor to said minor taken such steps to remove the property belonging to said minor from the Parish of Ouchita to this Parish and be placed under his care and management. In testimony when of said member have hereunto signed their names in the presence of Simpson W. Ramsey and Wm. S. McGough witnesses of lawful age and domiciticated in the Parish and State aforesaid and me the said Recorder on the second day of April AD 1860. Taylor, a resident of said Parish and State of La. respectfully represents unto your honor that he by a family meeting has been appointed or recommended to the tutorship of Sarah J. Simmons, minor child of James Simmons decd. late of Ouchita Parish, La. and his wife also decd. (Frances Taylor). He herewith presents the process verbal to the proceedings of the said meeting as had before W. C. Smith, Recorder of said Parish and prays that the same may be homolgated and confirmed. He prays to be appointed tutor to the said minor according to law and that as such may issue to him after due proceedings being held. He further prays for an order that the property belonging to the said minor be removed from the Parish of Ouchita when it now is in the position of the administrator of the Estate of James Simmons decd. to this Parish and for any and all such other orders and decrees in the premises as may be necessary. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Louisiana The premises being considered it is ordered adjudged that Jordon G. Taylor be and he is hereby confirmed and appointed Tutor of Sarah J. Simmons minor heir of James Simmons, Decd. upon giving bond with good security and taking the oath prescribed by law. Done and signed in office this 3rd day of April AD 1860. State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Union I Jordon G. Taylor do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on me as tutor to the following minor heirs of the estate of James Simmons Decd. to wit Sarah Jane Simmons to the best of my abilities and understanding. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Tutorship of the Minor Sarah J. Simmons Whereas Jordon G. Taylor has been duly and legally appointed Tutor to the following minor heir of the Estate of James Simmons, Decd. to wit Sarah J. Simmons andhath given bond and good security and taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Jordon G. Taylor is hereby legally and duly authorized and empowered to discharge all the duties appertaining to said appointment accordingto law. Given under my hand and seal of office on this the 2nd day of June AD 1860. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Jordon G. Taylor as principal and James M. Underwood as security are held and firmly bound unto Robt. W. Richardson, Judge of the 12th Jud'l Dist. Court in and for the Parish and State aforesaid for the time being or to his successors in office in the full and just sum of Four thousand and three hundred and eighty five dollars. Thereof well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs assigns administrators and legal representatives firmly by these presents dated at Farmerville, La. June 2nd 1860. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Jordon G. Taylor has been duly and legally appointed Tutor to the following minor heir of the estate of James Simmons, decd. to wit Sarah Jane Simmons and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore of the said Jordon G. Taylor shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on him in his said capacity and shall faithfully account tothe Judge of said Court for all monies or properties received from this or any other stateand shall render yearly to the Judge of said Court a true and faithful account of all hisacts and doings in and about said matter of Tutorship and shall faithfully look after thebody of said minor and study her interest in all things and shall whenever legallyrequired so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever naturebelonging to said minor to the proper person or persons to receive the same then the aboveobligation tobe null and void otherwise to remain in full force and effect against the principal and his said security.
