Murphy acting under Power of attorney for me, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to me paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained and sold and do by these presents grant, bargain and sell unto Joseph __ Slade and Miles Gathright Deacons of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church and their successors in office for the use and benefit of the said church a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana and known and bounded as follows: The south east quarter of the south east quarter of fractional section No. 4, Township No. 23 North of Range one East containing 37 acres with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging (except a lot of two acres in the southwest corner lying in the form of an oblong square according to the survey as described in the deed to Spring Hill Lodge No. 127 of Free and Accepted Masons and George W. Everett and T. D. Keesee of the firm of Everett & Keesee) to have and to hold the same for the use and benefit herein set forth forever. I James Moore do by these presents through George W. Murphy my lawful agent relinquish all right and title and forever quit claim to the above described land binding myself, heirs, administrators and assigns unto Joseph __ Slade, Miles Gathright and their successors in office for the use and benefit herein set forth to have & to hold the same forever and I will warrant & defend the title against the claims of any & all persons whosoever.
