Stripling, Decd. Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 42 - 54 Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 226 - 228 ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Note: In these succession records of Allen Stripling, sometimes he was given a middle initial of "G", but most times he was not. There was a younger boy, probably a nephew of Allen's, with the initials "A. G. Stripling" in 1860, but Allen's name was merely given as 'A. Stripling' that year. He was born about 1839 in Alabama. His age and the date given here for his death, September 1864, makes it likely that he died while serving in the Confederate Army. However, there is no record of a soldier with the initials "A. G. Stripling". However, A. A. Stripling served as a private in Company E, 25th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, a unit formed in Union Parish. This soldier enlisted with his unit at Monroe on 7 March 1862, and was present in 1862 through October. He was wounded at the Battle of Murfreesboro, and in January/February 1863, he was absent in the hospital. The records of this regiment are sparse, and they contain no further information on him. I believe this soldier was probably Allen Stripling whose succession records are given below. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 42 - 54 ================================================================================= To the Honorable the Judge or the Clerk of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana.
