Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book E, pp. 290 - 297 ================================================================================== To the honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana The petition of Ann Bruton, a resident of said parish, widow, respectfully requests that her husband Jessee R. Thompson, late of said Parish and State, departed this life at his residence therein on or about the 1st day of August AD 1861 leaving petitioner a widow, and also leaving an estate consisting of land, personal property, rights, credits and debts. Petitioner represents that as partners in Community, she is justly and legally entitled to the administration of the estate and prays that after due proceedings, she may be appointed administrator of the same. She further prays that an inventory be made and such of the orders be issued as the Law requires. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th Judl. Disct. Court Parish of Union The premises considered it is ordered and decreed that the mentioned application be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Record &C be and he is hereby authorized to make an Inventory of all the property belonging to the Estate of Jessee R. Thompson, Decd. and due return thereof make to this office without delay. Done and signed in office on this the 28th day of September AD 1861. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises being duly considered and by further reason of proper advertisement having been made and no opposition being filed in my office, it is therefore ordered and decreed that Ann S. Thompson be and she is hereby appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Jessee R. Thompson, Decd. and upon giving bond with good Security and taking the oath prescribed by law, that letters be issued to her. Done and signed in office this 14th day of October 1861. Jas. L. Egans, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for said Parish and State or to his legal successors in office in the sum of three thousand one hundred Dollars to the true and faithful payment they will and truly to be made we bind ourselves in full on this the 14th day of October AD 1861. Smith, Parish Recorder To the honorable the Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana The petition of Ann Bruton Admx. of the Estate of Jessee R. Thompson, decd. respectfully represents that a part of the said estate consists of stock and perishable property expensive to keep and subject to loss and deterioration and that the interest of the estate desires that it should be sold as speedily as the case admits. She therefore prays for an order to sell the personal property of said estate that she be authorized to make the sale and that the sale may be a credit of twelve months, except for sums of ten dollars and less, which she prays may be 8 percent and that the purchaser be required to give their note with good security for this purchase. She further prays for general relief. H. Regenburg, Atty Estate of Jessee R. Thompson Let the pray of Petitioner be granted and it is ordered that the personal property of said estate be sold according to Law, by the administratrix. That the sale be for all sums over ten Dollars in account of twelve months, purchaser giving their notes with good Security, and for sums of ten Dollars and less, Cash.
