Futch Tignor ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the twelfth Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union and State of Louisiana The petition of Henry J. Tignor, a resident of your said Parish and State, respectfully represents unto your honorable court that on or about the 12th day of April 1847 Caroline E. Futch, wife of petitioner, died leaving the following children the issue of the marriage of petitioner and minor heirs of her estate. To wit: Mary M. Tignor, Nicey I. Tignor, Charles A. Tignor and Louisa Francis Tignor, all issue of the same marriage. Petitioner alleges that he is the father and natural Tutor of said minors. Whereupon he prays your honorable court to appoint and confirm him as the Tutor of said minors. He also prays for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief &c. F. G. Hargis, Atty. State of Louisiana 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered it is ordered and decreed that Henry J. Tignor be and he is hereby confirmed and appointed Natural tutor to his minor children. To wit: Mary M. Tignor, Nicey I. Tignor, Charles A. Tignor and Louisa Francis Tignor and upon taking the oath prescribed by law that letters of tutorship do issue. It is further ordered that A. M. Taylor be and he is hereby appointed under tutor to said minors and upon taking the oath prescribed by law that letters do issue to him. Tignor, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on me as Natural tutor to my minor children to wit, Mary M. Tignor, Nicey I. Tignor, Charles A. Tignor is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the duties appertaining to said appointment according to law. Futch, Decd. To wit: Mary M. Tignor, Nicey I. Tignor, Charles A. Tignor and Louisa Francis Tignor and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Alexander M. Taylor is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the duties appertaining to said appointment according to law. Futch was the daughter of Mary Taylor (1797 - 1850) and her first husband, William Futch, who died in 1826. Mary was the daughter of William Taylor (died Butler County Alabama, 1830) and Catherine Gray (died Butler County Alabama, 1833). Mary's brother John Taylor became the first judge of Union Parish, and her brother Alexander M. Taylor mentioned above served as the undertutor for his nephw and nieces. #######################################################################
