The Petition of George W. Murphy of said parish respectfully represents that Sidney T. Wheelis, late of said Parish departed this life on the 2nd day of September AD 1863 leaving a considerable Estate consisting of real and personal property, rights, credits and debts. Also, a widow Emeline Virgie and five children to wit: Walter, Antoinette, James, Mary and Lucy Wheelis, all minors. Petitioner represents that he is a creditor of the Estate and that no person has as yet taken any steps to administer the same. Wherefore he prays that an Inventory and Appraisement may be had according to law and that after due proceedings had, he be appointed Administrator of said Estate and for such other orders and decrees as the case may require. Wheelis be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that W. C. Murphy is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all and singular the duties appertaining to said appointment according to law. State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we G. W. Murphy as principal and W. J. Pickle as security are held and firmly bound unto W. B. Egan, Judge of the 11th District Court in the just and full sum of seventeen thousand four hundred dollars to the true and faithful payment thereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs and assigns firmly by this present. Dated Farmerville, October 13th 1863. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound G. W. Murphy has this day been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of Sidney T. Wheelis, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore, if the said G. W. Murphy shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him in said capacity of Administrator and shall whenever legally required so to do, pay over all sums of money or other property to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. Wheelis, Decd. respectfully represents that her said husband departed this life on or about the 2nd day of September 1863 leaving an estate now in process of Administration and five children the issue of the marriage of petitioner with deceased to wit, Antoinette, Walter, James, Mary and Louisa Wheelis who are all minors. Petitioner represents that being the mother of the said children, she is entitled to the Tutorship and therefore prays that she be appointed and confirmed Natural Tutrix and that Geo. W. Murphy be appointed Under tutor and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as may be necessary. R. W. Futch, Atty. Wheelis, Decd., a resident of said parish herewith respectfully files an account of the sale of Personal property of said Estate had on Oct. 28th 1863 according to an order from your Honorable Court and after having posted advertisements according to law there being no newspaper published in said parish. The account of said sale amounts to the sums of one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight dollars and fifty cents $17898.50 and being for cash the purchasers having paid the several amounts of their purchases the property were adjudicated accordingly as set forth in the account of said sale which is herewith respectfully presented.
