White served as a private in the "Sparrow Cadets", Company I, 31st Regiment Louisiana Infantry. He enlisted in the Confederate service with his company at Monroe on 16 March 1862. On the January/February 1863 muster roll, he was listed as present, but sick in camp. His military file contains no further record. Since he was not with the army at the surrender of Vicksburg, he must have died between February 28 and July 4, 1863, either at Vicksburg or possibly at home in Union Parish. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Drury B. White, a resident of the Parish and State aforesaid respectfully represents unto your honorable court that Benjamin B. White, late of same residence, departed this life sometime during the year 1863 intestate, leaving a small estate is owning some few debts. That it is necessary that an Administrator be appointed to represent said estate. That petitioner is the father of said deceased and is the proper person to become Administrator. Wherefore petitioner prays your honor that W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public be ordered to take an inventory of the effects belonging to said Estate and after due advertisements and all other legal delays petitioner be duly appointed by your honorable court Administrator of said Estate. And, for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. R. W. Futch State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered and decreed that the within application of Drury B. White to be appointed Administrator of the Estate of Benjamin B. White, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to the said Estate and due return thereof make to this office. Done and signed in office the 26th day of February AD 1866. Thos. C. Lewis Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered and by reason of the proper advertising having been made and no opposition being filed thereto, it is ordered and decreed that Drury B. White be and he is hereby appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the estate of Benjamin B. White, Decd. and that the oath provoked by law that letters of Administration do issue to him. Smith Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the 14th day of March AD One thousand Eight hundred and six pursuant to an order from the Honorable 11th Judicial District Court and for the Parish of Union, La. and to me William C. Smith, Recorder and Ex officio Notary Public in and for said Parish directed commanding me to make and Inventory and Appraisement of all the property, rights and credits belonging to the Estate and succession of Benjamin B. White, Decd. late of the Parish of Union and being assisted by John D. Taylor and Thomas Seal, citizens of lawful age and domicile who being appointed and sworn by me as appraisers and in presence of witnesses proceeded to make said inventory at my office in the Town of Farmerville as herein after set forth: Property pointed out by White, Administrator 1st, a tract of land situated in the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana containing eighty five acres more or less apprd. @ $100.00 1 razor, strop and brush apprd. @ 1.00 3 books @30 cts., 1 saddle @ $2. ___2.50 Total amount one hundred and three and 50/100 Dollars $130.50 Thus done and signed in my office in the Town of Farmerville on this the day and date above written in the presence of David Arent and William Post, witnesses of lawful age and domicile who sign with said appraisers and me the recorder. White do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on me as Administrator of the Estate of Benjamin B. Lewis Clerk, District Court Succession of Benjamin B. White, Decd. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas, Drury B. White has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the Estate of Benjamin B. White, Decd. and he has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Drury B. White is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and seal of office on this 14th day of March AD 1866. Thos. C. Lewis Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Drury B. White as principal and William M. Post and Thomas Seal as his securities are held and firmly bound unto Honorable J. D. Watkins, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court to his successors in office in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to the true and faithful payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs and assigns and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Dated Farmerville, La. this the 14th day of March AD 1866. The consideration of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Drury B. White has been duly appointed Administrator of the Estate of Benjamin B. White, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Drury B. White shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on me as Administrator of said Estate and shall render to the Judge of said Court a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about the said Estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature in his hands and received by him belonging to the said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same then this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principal and his said securities.
