Williams, late of your said parish departed this life on or about the sixth day of July, Inst. leaving at his decease a considerable estate consisting of Land, slaves, personal property, rights and credits and also debts unsettled and outstanding. Also leaving five heirs to wit: Lizza James, wife of Daniel Abbott James (Peterson) Rachael E., Jessie C., John C. Williams, all the issue of the only marriage contracted by said decd. and all of full age except John C. who is a minor and all residents of said parish. Petitioner represents that being the oldest mail heir of age he claims the administration of said Estate. He further prays that Jessie Williams be appointed tutor to John C. Williams and Thomas B. Killgore Under tutor and for such other orders and decrees in the process as the nature of the case shall require and admit of. H. Regenburg, Atty. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said James Williams has been duly and legally appointed administrator of the Estate of Job. M. Williams, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the same James Williams shall faithfully and impartially administer said Estate and shall do an perform all the acts in and about said Estate and shall render a true and correct account to the Judge of said Court or to his successors in office or to the legal heir of said Estate where required legally to do so, then their obligation to be null and void. Court in and for the Parish and State aforesaid or to his successors in office for the full sum of twenty six hundred dollars, the true and faithful payment whereof will and duly to be made. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Jesse Williams has been duly and legally appointed tutor to the following minor heir of the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd. to wit: John C. Williams and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Jesse Williams shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him in his said capacity, and shall render yearly to the Judge of said Court a true and faithful account of all acts and doings in and about said matter of tutorship and shall wherein legally required so to do, pay on all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever nature to the said minor or to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. Whereof, I have caused said appraisers to sign their names hereto with reasonable notary in the presence of Wm. L. Smith, Recorder To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana The petition of Jesse Williams, a resident of said Parish and State, administrator of the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd. late of said Parish and State, respectfully presents unto your honorable court that the said Estate is considerably in debt and that in order to settle the debts of the same it will be necessary to sell the personal property belonging to the same, and also the land which taken together with the proceeds from the hiring out the slaves belonging to said estate, petitioner believes will produce a sufficient sum to liquidate all the debts. He represents that the interest of the estate dictates that the property should be sold and credit of twelve months and the land on one and two years. He therefore prays for an order to sell the personal property on a credit of twelve months for all amounts over ten dollars, sums of ten dollars and under, cash. The land in one and two years credit in equal installments. Purchaser giving their notes with good security and in the notes for the land a mortgage to be retained until paid and for such other orders until paid and for such other order the [unreadable] as may be needful and proper. Court Parish of Union The premises being duly considered it is ordered that the personal property and the land belonging to the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd. be sold, the personal property on a credit of twelve months, the land one and two years credit, purchasers giving their notes bearing 8 percent interest from date, with approved security and a mortgage to be retained on the land. Purchases of ten dollars and below that sum to be paid in Cash. It is further ordered that the above be authorized to make the sale &C. Done and signed this the 10th November AD 1860. Thos. C. Be it remembered that on the 29th day of December AD 1860 in compliance with an order of the Hon. 12th District Court in and for the Parish of Union and after having advertised for more than thirty days by pubic notice in the Union Democrat a weekly newspaper published in Farmerville in said parish. I, James Williams administrator of the Estate of Robt. [sic] M. Williams, Decd. late of said parish did offer for sale the land belonging to said estate at public Auction and after drying the land for a proper time it was adjudicated as follows: Thomas B. Killgore became the purchaser of the South East quarter of Section No. One Township No. Twenty in Range ten west (31711R2ll) containing one hundred and fifty two acres bidding the sum of eight dollars per acre coming to the sum of twelve hundred and sixteen dollars, the said Estate being in debt to price, he was not called on to make any further compliance with this credit was of Bal. $1216.00 James Williams & D. J. Abbot became the purchasers of the South west quarter of the same section containing one hundred and forty eight acres for nine dollars and forty cents per acre, amounting to one thousand three hundred and ninety one dollars and 76/00 ($1591.67) Said bids being made according to law and complied with the said land is hereby adjudicated, bargain and sold to the said parties, with all the proper and legal guarantees. Guthrie, Clerk ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 122 - 128 ================================================================================= ================================================================================= To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union and State of Louisiana. The Petition of David J. Abbott, a resident of the Parish and State above written respectfully shows that about the year 1860, Job M. Williams, also of the same residence departed this life at his residence intestate. That his son James Williams was appointed Administrator of his Estate and partially administered the same. That he the said James Williams also died about the first of November 1865 without having completed the settlement of said Estate. That petitioner was security on the said James Williams bound as Administrator and has an interest in settling the said Estate and further that Mrs. Nancy Williams the surviving widow of the said James Williams, Decd. has been confirmed as Administratrix of the Estate of her dead husband the said James Williams and as such is about filing an account of the Administration of the said husband of his doings in the Estate of which he was Administrator as aforesaid and it is important that another Administrator be appointed to represent the Estate of Job M. Williams aforesaid and complete the settlement of the same. Wherefore petitioner prays that this his application be advertised according to law and after the legal delays he be appointed Administrator of the said Estate of Job Williams, Decd. for an Inventory and appraisement of the same to be made and for all further orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief &c. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union It is ordered and decreed that the within application of Daniel J. Abbott to be appointed Administrator for the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate of the said Job M. Williams, Decd. and due return thereof make to this office according to law. Done and signed in office this 15th day of January AD 1866. Thos. C. Abbott has been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore, if the said Daniel I. Abbott shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on him as Administrator of the said Estate and shall render to the Judge of said Court a true and correct accounting of all his acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall faithfully account for all the property received by him belonging to the said Estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property belonging to said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. The petition of Nancy Williams, Administratrix of the Estate of James Williams, a resident of the Parish and State aforesaid respectfully shows has herewith filed a full complete and final account of the acts and doings of said James Williams as Administrator of the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd. The said James Williams did before completing the Administration of said Estate and left his account to be rendered by his Administrator from said account it will be seen. That the whole amount of charges against the Administration is Eleven Thousand six hundred and sixty five and 17/100 Dollars $11665.17 That he is entitled to credits for slaves emancipated seven thousand two hundred and fifty Dollars 7250.00 Also for debts paid he is entitled to credits for three thousand one hundred and eighty eight & 12/100 Dollars 3188.12 That he has notes on hand which are hereby returned for which he is entitled to a credit of six hundred and sixty nine and 12/100 dollars ____669.12 $11107.65 Leaving a balance of five hundred and fifty seven & 91/100 dollars due by the Administrator $557.91 The debts represented by Vouchers 31, 32, 33, 34 & 35 are privileged debts and the balance only ordinary debts. The Estate owes many debts that are still [unreadable] and it is out of your petitioners powers to state them, but Daniel I. Abbott has applied for the Administration is probably appointed. Petitioner prays that this account be advertised according to law and after the legal delays that the same be approved and homologated for all orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief &c. Williams, Decd. filed July 16th 1860 and duly recorded February 13th 1862 the amount of which is ten thousand four hundred and three dollars $10403.00 The Admr. is also charged with the excess of account sales over the appraised value of the property sold real estate see inventory six hundred and eighteen 67/100 dollars 618.67 Personal property thirty six and 50/100 36.50 The Admr. is also charged with hire of Negroes belonging to the Estate ____607.00 Sum total of Debts $11665.17 The inventory of the Estate of Job M. Williams, Decd., I did proceed on the same day and date to advertise the hereinafter described land to sell the 19th day of January 1867. When on day of sale after all legal advertisement &c were made, I proceeded to the late domicile of said Job M. Williams on the day appointed and after reading the certificate of mortgage, advertisement and order, I proceeded to cry the same in an audible voice to the last and highest bidder when the parties named below became the purchasers of the land and at the price specified opposite their respective names which land I do hereby sell and adjudicate to the said parties, their heirs and representatives forever i.e. all the rights, title, interest and claim which the said Estate of Job Williams, Decd. has unto the same.
