P. Windes was born on 21 December 1824 and died 11 March 1847. He married Mary Jane Taylor in Union Parish on 25 June 1846. She was the daughter of Union Parish Judge John Taylor. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= State of Louisiana Parish of Union To the Honorable Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in & for the said Parish of Union, in the State of Louisiana. The Petition of Edward B. winds, a resident of your said Parish with respect represents unto your Honor that his brother Oliver H. P. Winds departed this life in said Parish on the eleventh day of March this Instant intestate having his wife Mary Jane Winds, alias Taylor and a considerable amount of property, rights & credits, lands and testaments wherefore your petitioner prays your honor to cause & Inventory & Appraisement to be made of said Estate & that your petitioner be appointed Administrator on complying with the law and for all such other decrees as the nature of the case may require as in duty bound your petitioner ever prays &c. Windes & hath given hand & taken the oath presented by law. Now therefore he is hereby authorized & empowered to discharge all & singular the duties appertaining to the said appointment according to law. Windes has been appointed by the Clerk of said Court administrator of the Estate of Oliver H. P. Windes, decd. and taken the oath and given bond & security required by law. P. Windes, deceased, in pursuance of a judgment and decree of the Honorable the Judge of the Twelfth Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana, and for the purpose aforesaid, I have appointed John Taylor and Alexander M. P. Winds, late of said parish desired & credited with the first of January 1848, the purchases giving notes with good personal security to bear interest at eight per cent per amount from due until paid J. Avery Breed, Sheriff of said Parish and State in pursuance to said order have advertised said sale to take place on the 5th day of Apr 1847 being advertised more than ten days as for copy of advertisement hereto annexed to be sold in the terms & conditions as above expressed in said order of court the sale to take place at the late residence of said Oliver H. P. Bricklen (his mark) Bryan Notice In pursuance of & order of sale to me directed from the Honorable the 12th Judicial District court in and for the Parish of Union State of Louisiana. I will proceed on Monday the 5th day of Apr next at the late residence of Oliver H. P. winds, deceased to sell all of the personal Estate belonging to the Estate of said Winds, deceased consisting of horses, pigs, cattle farming tools, horses & kitchen furniture. Terms of sale all sums of five dollars and upwards on a credit until 1st of January next 1848. The purchaser giving with approved security drawing eight per cent interest from due until paid and all sums under five dollars, cash. March 15th AD 1847. Avery Breed, Shff. Estate of Oliver H. P. Winds 12th District Court Parish of Union, La. Know all men by these presents that we Edward B. Winds as principle & Robert W. Winds, his security are held & firmly bound unto George W. Copley, Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in & for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana and his successors in office in the sum of four thousand dollars & seventy eight dollars & eleven cents. To the true and faithful payment therefore bind ourselves, our heirs & assigns, firmly by these presents, signed, acknowledge & dated on this the 23rd day of March AD 1847. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Edward B. Winds has been appointed administrator of the said Estate of Oliver H. P. Winds, deceased by the Clerk of the said Court. Now therefore if the said Winds shall faithfully discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him as Administrator aforesaid & shall make a true and faithful account of his administration when he shall be legally required so to do by the said Court or by the heirs & legal representatives of said Estate. Then the above obligation is to be null & void or else to be & remain in full force and affect, signed on the date above mentioned. Witnesses: Thomas VanHook, Clerk E. B. Winds B. W. Winds State of Louisiana Parish of Union Mr. Thomas VanHook, You are hereby notified that we refuse to take the administration of the estate Oliver H. P. Winds, deceased & fully relinquish the same to O. B. Winds & do hereby request that he be appointed administrator of said Estate. March 23d 1847. Mary J. Winds To the Honorable Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in & for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Edward B. Winds, a resident of your said Parish & administrator of the estate of Oliver H. P. Winds, deceased with respect represents unto your honor that the personal property of said Estate is expensive to keep and are subject to waste, say the horses, hogs, cattle, farming tools, household and kitchen furniture wherefore the petitioner prays your Honor to grant an order of sale of said property and that the same be sold on a credit until the first of January next for all sums over five dollars under five cash and for all such orders & decrees as the nature of the case may require as in duty bound, your petitioner ever prays, E. Winds 12th District Court Parish of Union Let the prayer of the petition be granted & it is ordered that the personal estate as named in the petition be sold on a credit until the 1st of January next 1848, amounts above five dollars & for all sums under five dollars cash. The purchasers to give notes with approved security and it is further ordered that by reason of their being no qualified auctioneer in said Parish, that Avery Breed, Sheriff of said Parish be appointed to make said sale.
