Wright, Dec'd., Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 382 - 391 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE: There were four men living in the Shiloh region in 1860 by the name of John Wright. It appears that the four were direct descendants of each other, but it is not clear which one's succession is given here due to the missing information in this record. The oldest was John Wright, Sr., born about 1774 in Georgia, with John G. Wright born about 1808, both in Georgia. John Wright, Jr., lived next to the eldest John, was born about 1838 in Alabama, with his son John G. Wright born about 1856 in Louisiana. The Wrights lived near the portion of Union Parish that later fell into Lincoln Parish; it appears that their land straddled the modern Union/Lincoln Parish line. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of John B. Green of the Parish and State written, respectfully represents that about August 1864 John G. Wright departed this life at his residence in said Parish intestate leaving a considerable property consisting of land, negroes, personal property, rights, credits and debts, also [blank] Wright his surviving widow and the following heirs to wit: [blank] Wright, wife of Peter L. Tatum, [blank] Wright, wife of your petitioner, Arthur T. Wright and [blank] the last named being minors. Petitioner avers that the Estate or Succession at the time it was offered was entirely solvent, but that since on account of the Negroes having become free by the actions of the Government, the Estate has been hopelessly insolvent, the debts largely exceeding the available assets, that an Administration of the Estate is necessary and petitioner being the husband of one of the force heirs, her legal representatives is entitled to the Administration of the same, the only male heir of age or represented in the state having made application and failed to give security within the time appointed and now waiving his claim to petitioner. Wherefore he prays that this his application be advertised according to law and that after the legal delays he be appointed administrator of said Estate of John G. Wright, Decd., that an Inventory and Appraisement of said Estate be made according to Law and for all orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general and equitable relief. Jno. L.
