GEORGE FEAZEL AND HIS WIFE, MARGARET PEAR Contributed by Sherry Gritzbaugh ************************************************ Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Married on the 13th. day of January, 1790 in Shenandoah County, Va. settled in Hawkins Conty, TN as early as 1794 when he purchased land from Elisha Walling. This land document is so old that it would not reproduce well and is very difficult to read. From census records, bible records, it indicates that George and his family moved back and forth from Bedford County Va. to Hawkins Co. Tenn. From this information I am going to try to provide you with an accurate account of their children. 1. Rachel Feazel, the oldest, born about 1792 in Hawkins Co. Tenn. Marrried Alexander Thomas Dutton and Lynd Sterling. Died about 1860. At her death, she still owned land in Madison County, Ala where she married Mr. Dutton on the 30th. day of Jan. 1810. Her second marriage was to Lynds Sterling in Ouachita Parish, La. 2. Phillip Feazel was born 7 June, 1795 and died 19 Oct. 1876. He was twice married. First to Nancy Slater. They were the parents of nine children. Phillips second marriage was to a widow Mrs. Mary Bullock nee Hite. No children were born to that union. Phillip is believed to have erected the first house in Farmerville, Louisiana. It was built of logs; a store building which he sold for goods to Schlanker who later sold to D. Stein. Col. Steins family owned and operated a business on this location. 3. Mary Mae Feazel was born ca 1799-1801 in Hawkins Co. TN. She died about 1863 in Union Parish, La. She maried John "Jean" Honeycutt. They were the parents of at least seven known children. 4. John O. Feazel born 1800 in Hawkins Co. Tennessee. He was married but once to Christiana Ferguson, a daughter of Maryan Hill and John Ferguson. John died on the 22nd. day of March, 1877 in Union Parish, La. He was the father of Lewis, Jane, George, Mary, and Manson predeceased their father in death. John moved to Ark. Catherine died two years after her father's death. Dewitt moved to Texas and Hale died in 1911. Christiana died after 1870 and before 1874. 5. George L. Feazle born March, 1803 in Hawkins Co. TN. Died 2 Nov. 1885 in Algerita Community of San Saba, Texas. He was twice married. First to Lucinda Kirkland and second to Pamelia Grier. This family is the only line to spell the name Feazle. 6. Michael Feazel was born 7 June, 1805 and died intestate on the 12th. day of April, 1881 in Union Parish, La. Married Mary Ann Clarissa Wise, the daughter of Susannah Ferguson and Jesse Wise. 7. Sarah Elizabeth Feazel born 1 Nov. 1797 in Bedford Co. Va. and died 29 Apr. 1883 in Ark. Married first to E. S. Thomas Grisham as his second wife. He was first married to Phebe Rainey or Raney. After he died, she married Oliver McAfee. 8. Soloman Feazel was born about 1807/8 and owned land with his mother. He died about 1863 in Union Parish, La. His first marriage is believed to have been to Sarah Elizabeth Farmer, a daughter of Susannah Wood and Mills Farmer. Some researchers have Betty Palmer listed as his second wife. Others believe there may have been a third wife and list her name as Nancy Ann Wilhite. The compiler has been unable to prove or disprove the last two wives. Sarah Elizabeth Farmer was the mother of his children. Was there a ninth child? Miss Sada Carey of Downsville, Louisiana believed there was a child named Nancy Feazel who may have married Mr. ___Wilhite. She was reputed to have inherited the family bible. I can find no record to prove she lived or died. In the history of Union Parish, La. there is an article which reads "The Feazel Family" arrived in the Parish so early that one of the women was killed by the indians. # # #
