Freeman to Union Parish Clerk of Court James Monroe Smith Resident of Farmerville, Union Parish Louisiana ================================================================================== Hazlehurst, Miss. March 27, 1884 Dear Bro., The sad news of your recent bereavement, in the death of Willie, has just reached me. I wish simply to express my sympathy for you and the family in your great trouble. I hope Willie was prepared, and if so he has the companionship of Christ and angels and sainted spirits among whom are his father and mother. Then why lament his departure? May the blessed comforts of religion, which has sustained you in so many troubles, comfort you in this. Love to all. Fraternally, C. B.
