Smith, Clerk Edward Everett, Deputy Clerk’s Office Parish of Union Farmerville, LA November 16, 1897 My darling little girl, Your dear short little letter came Saturday evening and as usual I was made to be very happy over its reception. The reasons I deferred writing you until now. I had not decided what day I would go to Ruston. If nothing prevents sister & I will go next Thursday, Billie Heard & family & uncle Gus (James A. Manning) will also accompany us. Florence will go on the evening’s train to S’port & Billie & family to Baton Rouge. Well as I hope to see you day after tomorrow & have a long, old-time, sweet talk I will do as you did save all the news until I see you. Darling I want to see you so much I can hardly wait for the time. Take good care of my little darling & be a sweet girl until I see you. With a heart full of love. Yours Devotedly, James ########################################################################################## File posted at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/union/history/letters/smith/1897-11-16.txt
