Our roots run deep in Union parish too, with names like Hudson, Goynes, Acree. Dandridge Acree was on the Police Jury, as was his son. When I was a child my grandmother said she didn't remember much about my grandfather, Elgin Dean Hudson's family. Though she was very fond of his mother, Susannah Goyne Hudson, whom they called Sue Ann. Elgin died before I was born, but my grandmother and mother would tell wonderful stories of how he helped build the (New) Ouachita River bridge and he and my grandmother Emma Coates Hudson planted the bushes and flowers at each end. When my mom died in 1996 I grew hungry for more information about this family and begain to search. How lucky I was to find Tim Hudson. He is my cousin and has shown and shared with me so much about our family. We have a wonderful friendship. Now, after all these years of wondering I feel like I belong to the Union Parish families. # # #
