He married Amma Phillips, my Dad's half sister. Her sister Alice had the store and Post Office at Oakland, she liked to visit the relatives on Sundays. As a teenager and eager to drive I was her chauffeur, and went to Uncle Lucien and Aunt Amma's probably every couple of months. Uncle Lucien used to train bird dogs for doctors out of Monroe, he always had a pen of dogs. His nickname for Aunt Amma was Coot. I remember being over there before Majorie and Jake married. (Marjorie was Uncle Lucien's daughter, who married Jake Long, the Buick dealer in Farmerville.) I remember Aunt Amma had an ulcer operation one summer and was in the hospital at Ruston. This was in the 40s and seemed like she was there for at least two months, and poor Uncle Lucien stayed in the room with her. I think of it often - now days you would be lucky to stay three days for an ulcer operation! # # #
