It was established on 24 March 1838 with Jeptha Colvin as the first postmaster. His father Daniel Colvin, Sr., was one of the earliest pioneer settlers of the Union/Lincoln Parish region, arriving between 1810 and 1814. When it was established, Colvin's Post Office was located in northwestern Ouachita Parish, but it fell into Union Parish with its creation on 13 March 1839. Colvin's remained in Union Parish until the creation of Jackson Parish in 1845. On 8 April 1850, the name of the post office was changed from Colvin's to Vienna. With the creation of Lincoln Parish from portions of Union, Jackson, Claiborne, and Bienville Parishes in 1873, the Vienna Post Office (formerly Colvin's) now belonged to Lincoln Parish. It existed as Vienna until 14 February 1964. #2 The name of this post office was changed to "Vienna" on 8 April 1850, when John Huey, Jr. was the postmaster. Huey was probably the brother of Jeptha Colvin's mother, Susan Huey Colvin. ###########################################################
