Hudson transcribed this information from the original records and donated it to the Union Parish Archives in August 2004. ================================================================================== LARAN POST OFFICE ESTABLISHED: 10 October 1916 HISTORY OF LARAN POST OFFICE: Office ordered discontinued on 25 March 1939, effective 29 April 1939, with mail forwarded to Strong, Union County Arkansas. POSTMASTERS: Benj. F. Tubb, 10 Oct 1916 - 17 Dec 1929 Benjamin S. Tubb, 18 Dec 1929 - 28 Apr 1939 [Office discontinued effective 29 Apr 1939, with mail forwarded to Strong, AR.] ================================================================================== COMMENTS: #1 Benjamin Franklin Tubb (15 July 1847 - 8 Dec 1934) was a Baptist minister. He was apparently the man who served as postmaster of the Louter Post Office in 1914 and 1915 prior the closing of that office. He served as postmaster of Laran for thirteen years. #2 The Laran community is located in northern Union Parish about 2.5 miles south of the Arkansas State Line. Laran is on Highway #550 towards Hillsboro, Union County Arkansas, in Section 20, Township 23 North, Range 1 West. ###########################################################
