McBroom, 20 Nov 1867 - 16 Dec 1884 [Office discontinued with mail sent to Cherry Hill on 17 Dec 1884.] ================================================================================== COMMENTS: #1 There was no known office by the name of "Cherry Hill" in Union Parish. It is possible that there was an office by this name across the state line in Union County Arkansas, but more likely they meant to write "Cherry Ridge", which was located only a short distance south of Lone Well. #2 James H. McBroom owned land in Section 9, Township 23 North, Range 1 West, just over one mile north of the modern village of Laran, and about 1.5 miles south of the Arkansas/Louisiana state line. Lone Well was probably located there on McBroom's farm or village. #3 Lone Well was located within a mile of the old Mooresville Post Office that closed in 1851. ###########################################################
