    16 August 1904


HISTORY OF THAXTON POST OFFICE:
    Office ordered closed 5 February 1908, effective 29 February 1908, with mail forwarded 
           to Bernice.


POSTMASTERS:

Geo. W. Shackelford, 16 Aug 1904 - 15 Apr 1906 

Juneus L. E. Thaxton, 5 Feb 1906 - declined appointment 

Tuble J. Hudson, 16 Apr 1906 - 28 Feb 1908

COMMENTS:

Thaxton Post Office was another railroad post office that opened in western Union Parish 
along the rail line that ran between Junction City and Bernice. It was located north 
of Pisgah and south of the Ryan post offices, in approximately Section 24, Township 22 
North, Range 3 West.
