Ray is a great great grandson of James Earl Rea. They called him Jim. Jim was born the 4th son of 10 children born to Luke and Martha "Polly" Sawyer Rea, in 1812, South Carolina. Jim married first Lucinda Collums. It is not known what happened to Lucinda, but on 25 of Janurary 1827 in South Carolina, Jim married Christina Brasher. The couple had 8 children: 1) Theopholuist b. May 1827 2) Charles Henry b. 1833 3) Mary J. b. 1834 4) Luke b. 1835 5) William J. b. 1839 6) Frances Pricilla b.1842 7)David E. b.1843 8) Ablisolom B. b. 1850. Somewhere between 1834 and 1835, Jim moved his family to Alabama. On the 6th day of Sept. 1851 in Centerville, Alabama, Jim married Jane McClung. They had 6 children: 1) Thomas A. b.1852 AL 2) William R. b. 1853 AL 3) James Spencer b.13 June 1855 Selma, AL 4) George M. b.1857 AL 5) Huey L. b.1859 6) Sidney Johnson b. 9 May 1861 Selma, AL James Earl Rea or Jim Ray as he was later known, passed away 1894 and is buried along side his wife Jane at Mineral Springs Baptist Church and Cemetery. The church and cemetery are located outside of Farmerville, LA. in Union Parish. # # #
