He was the son of William Tucker, but his mother's name is unknown to me at this time. The Tucker family moved to Dadeville, Tallapoosa County, AL some time around 1840. William Tucker died in the year of 1854, and in 1858 his children petitioned the court for a partition of his land. In this document all the children's names are listed, along with their spouses. By his own words Cole Tucker came to Union Parish, LA in the fall of 1859. His name is not on the 1860 Census and it is not known if he came alone or with members of his family. In 1861 he joined the Confederate Army at Shiloh and went to Camp Moore, LA. In the year 1866 he married Lucinda Isabelle Elliott. She was the daughter of Charles Willis Elliott and Rebecca Porter Hancock Elliott. The Elliotts were married in Henry County, GA in the year 18454. Isabelle Elliott was married to a Robert Patrick in Union Parish before marrying Cole Tucker. Their marriage was short-lived, and Bob Patrick sued her for divorce. She was very young (15), and he was much older with a house full of kids. Isabelle Elliott told her grandchildren (including my father) about the family journey from GA to Union Parish. She was nine years old when they left Pike County, GA with ox-drawn wagons. She said it took six months for the trip. When they came to a river, they would stop and make camp, and the men would cut trees and make log bridges to cross over the river. Union Parish is the home of many descendants of this couple. The daughter of Cole and Isabelle, Sarah Rebecca Tucker, was my grandmother. She married Elias George Gray and had five children in ten years: Barney Felston, James Franklin, Anna Pearl, Cullen Leon, and Marvin Gray who is my father. His brothers are well known in Bernice, LA. Frank Gray was a barber there for many years, and Lonnie Gray still lives there. The children of Coleman Tucker and Lucinda Isabelle Elliott, all born in Union Parish, were: Sarah Rebecca, b. 18 Jun 1867; Willis Cullen, b. 25 Dec 1868; Marthy Isabelle (Belle), b. 4 May 1870; Jessie Anna, b. 3 Mar 1872; William Alexander, b. 25 Jun 1874; Addy May, b. 25 Jul 1878; John Thomas, b. 13 Apr 1881. The brothers of Lucinda Isabelle Elliott were: Martin Hancock, b. ca 1841 in Pike Co, GA; Thomas, b. 11 Oct 1847 in GA; William Henry, b. 7 Nov 1849 in GA; John Cullen, b. ca 1851-52; Porter, b. ca 1856, no further record; W.C., no further record. Lucinda Isabelle was the first child born to Charles Willis Elliott and wife Rebecca Porter Hancock. Martin was her step-brother from Rebecca's first marriage to Oliver Hancock in Pike Co, GA. The brothers and sisters of Coleman Tucker were: Elizabeth Ann (Betsy), b. ca 1841 GA; Greenberry, b. ca. 1818 GA; Reuben, b. ca 1818 GA; Hicksey, b. ca 1820 GA; John, b. ca 1822 GA; Lucinda (Lucy), b. ca 1824 GA; Abby, b. ca 1826 GA; William Tucker, Jr., b. ca 1827 GA; Amos, b. ca. 1828 GA; Jefferson, b. ca 1830 GA; Arcada, b. ca 1832 GA; Alexander, b. 22 Aug 1840 GA; (Coleman was second from youngest, b. 9 Mar 1838). # # #
