From the 1860s until at least the 1880s, Ward Three included the entire northwestern corner of Union Parish. Northern Boundary of Ward Three: ++ the Arkansas/Louisiana line Eastern Boundary of Ward Three: ++ the western boundary line of Ward Six Southern Boundary of Ward Three: ++ the northern boundary of Ward Four Southeastern Boundary of Ward Three: ++ from the 1860s until the mid-1900s, Ward Three bounded Ward One to the southeast; however, since the police jury reduced the size of Ward One to the region immediately surrounding Farmerville in the mid-1900s, Ward Three no longer borders Ward One Western Boundard of Ward Three: ++ 1860 - 1880s/1890s: Ward Three included the entire northwestern portion of Union Parish, including Spearsville, the portion of Junction City in Union Parish, and old Village of Cherry Ridge. Thus, during this period the western boundary of Ward Three was the Claiborne/Union Parish line. ++ 1880s/1890s - mid-1900s: The police jury put the extreme northwestern corner of the parish, including the Union Parish portion of Junction City and probably the Randolph community, into Ward Ten. During this period, the northwestern boundary of Ward Three was the Ward Ten border, and the western boundary was the Claiborne Parish line. Ward Ten was a relatively small region with a small population, and the bulk of northwestern Union Parish remained in Ward Three. ++ mid-1900s - present: The police jury abolished Ward Ten, and put the thin vertical strip from Junction City south to Bernice, running along each side of modern Highway 167 along the Claiborne Parish line, into Ward Nine (Ward Nine had previously been located in southern Union Parish). The new Ward Nine now includes the Union Parish portion of Junction City, the old railroad community of Randolph, and the Town of Lille. ============================================================================================ ============================================================================================ Sources: Union Parish Police Jury Records Union Parish Federal Censuses and Enumerator's Explanations ###########################################################
