From the 1860s and through the 1930s, the Town of Marion was entirely within Ward Two. Northern Boundary of Ward Two: ++ Arkansas/Louisiana State Line Eastern Boundary of Ward Two: ++ the Ouachita River Western Boundary of Ward Two: ++ the eastern boundary of Ward Six Southern Boundary of Ward Two -- has changed over the years: ++ 1860 - 1880s: Ward Two extended south to Bayou D'Loutre, encompassing virtually the entire eastern side of the parish along the Ouachita River. This included the river towns of Alabama Landing, Ouachita City, and Port Union. ++ 1880s - 1930s: The eastern portion of the parish, including Ward Two, was subdivided into Wards Seven and Eight. Between then and the mid-1900s, Ward Two only extended about four miles south of Marion to the imaginary line between Townships 21 and 22 North. In other words, the boundary between Wards Two and Eight was a line that ran from the early 1900s Village of De Loutre (on Highway 33 from Farmerville to Marion) due east to the Ouachita River, running just north of Linville and Haile. The modern ward lines have changed since the 1930s, and now Marion lies on the line between Wards Two and Six. Also, Ward Two now extends further south along the Ouachita River than what it did in the eary 1900s. ============================================================================================ ============================================================================================ Sources: Union Parish Police Jury Records Union Parish Federal Censuses and Enumerator's Explanations ###########################################################
