One at Belmont, Sabine parish, Law E. Stephens, postmaster, and one at Lindville, Union parish, John S. Barr, postmaster. The post offices at Mooresville, Union parish, and at Routh's point, Concordia parish, have been discontinued. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== Issue of 20 November 1851 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== The Postmaster General has established a new post office by the name of Ouachita, in Union parish, in this State. James L. Jones, postmaster. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== NOTE by T. D. Hudson: The Ouachita City post office in Union Parish, located on the Ouachita River a few miles north of modern Sterlington, Louisiana, originally opened on 13 March 1846. It was moved across the river into Ouachita Parish on 11 July 1851, and the name changed to "Hamilton".
