Tragedy in Union Parish — The Winnsboro (Franklin parish) Herald of the 21st says:

   We learn that on Monday evening of this week, Mr. Henry J. Reese, well known 
in this community, and brother of Wm. K. Reese, the artist, was waylaid and shot, 
about half a mile from Ouachita city, Mr. Wm. Reese had some difficulty with parties 
about improvements on land he had entered, but the deceased had no interest in the 
dispute and had taken no part.
